:D

I got these from Paul Jaquays. The first is part of the cover art for The Unknown Gods…JG's answer to OD&D's Deities, Demigods & Heroes. The second is an illustration of a monster idea submitted by a fan for publication, and it appeared in Dungeoneer #10.

He went on to tell me that these were some of his earliest pieces of art he did after joining the Judges Guild, and that most of the art he did for them was lost and never returned. Also his basement flooded in the early 80's and what pieces he did have from the era were damaged or destroyed :( .

So keep your eyes open for any of Paul's work from this period it's quite rare, and a must for a JG fan.

yeah i know. it really does suck that. just think all that originality gone forever. imagine the $$$ it would raise if auctioned nowadays? i would most certainly throw a chunk of money at it cos i love original artwork like that.

damn shame to say the very least

404 (Page Not Found) Error - Ever feel like you're in the wrong place?

Paul's site has some good stuff on there, in particular if you're interested in computer game design!

O is for Orc
Fiction illustration assignments for Dragon magazine usually required three pieces, a full page illo, a smaller illo, and an illustrated drop-cap letter for the first word in the story. This is the drop-cap. Of the three or four fiction pieces I illustrated for Dragon, this letter was the best of them all.

  • Price: $40.00
  • U.S. Shipping: $7.00

For an example.

Paul is a really great guy in person as well.

Stephen

WOW! 8O  What a cool site. :D  I knew he was a very fine artist, but man he even helped design some of my favorite Atari/Collecovision Games from when I was a kid. Simply awesome. 8)

I forwarded Paul the link here, and perhaps he'll drop in to say hello.  In any event, he said he's probably going to put some more pieces up on eBay soon :D

Fencert recently told me on the phone that he has some original art from Judges Guild.

Perhaps he has some original Jaquays?
