I asked the guy about these and he responded pretty quickly:

Yes, the mugs are definitely NEW and unused. They
are without chips or any wear marks. These mugs
have been stored in a box since 1982. They are
made of melamine plastic, dishwasher safe. The
sample set of mugs were manufactured in 1982.

I am tempted on these (I have a thing about D&D mugs), but am trying to thin the collection out - not add more.

Plus, you can't drink a decent cup of tea from a plastic cup  8O

Grodog might know. He was very into tournament modules especially from the early 80's.

TheShield sold one of these a couple months ago.  I think it went for about $35-$40 to Stratochamp?  It seems rare but does pop up from time to time.

Yeah, that was the only other reference to it that I could find.

I seem to remember that this was rarer than it has been of recent months.  Both Grodog and I were looking for one last year quite assiduously, and suddenly there have been quite a few.  It actually contains at least one not bad adventure (e.g. for anyone looking to convert to AD&D)

Octagon of Chaos is the best of the Stormbringer/Elric lot.

I got it for 99 cents several years ago, when there were copies around on Ebay that no one seemed to want.

Seller patrick5 is selling some CoC and a Cthulhu statuette.  He is also auctioning a unique item --- the domain name "shoggoth.com".  I have not done a "whois" or anything else to verify the domain's status, so caveat emptor:

I know I have seen another one or two.  Actually, I might have bought the one from TheShield, I will have to check.

Chaosium was in Albany, CA at that time.  Whether or not those are really RQ bits or part of something else is hard to tell from the picture.  My gut says junk, not treasure.

heroic worlds hardback if you haven't already got one.

Ex-library copy - seems kind of a surreal book to be borrowing from the library 8O

You can never have too much of something you didn't need in the first place.

Is there any difference with the softcover in the content?

Back when I was in college, I referred to the library's copy all the time, and checked it out on several occasions. I don't think there's any difference in the content between the two.
