Actually this year was the first time it was played at NTRPG.  But it seemed to be well received so it may become a yearly game.

If you are referring to the Aliens auction, this is not all that bad a price.  Except for the split corner, the box is in pretty nice condition.  It's complete and also has the expansion included.  You can find it cheaper but not always with the expansion.

Here is one without the expansion that ended just a hair below $100:

And here is another that sold that is essentially the same as the one referenced by Ronald only it is missing one of the alien cards:

Hey King,

Thanks for the reply. I didn't realize that this was the first year.
I guess I got confused with Circus Maximus which I think has run more than once at NTRPG Con.

If it is going to be a yearly game that's one that I would sign up for. :)
Looked like an absolute blast and the models for the walls that Allan made, Wow! :)

Best regards,
Ronald

I am quite sure that Aliens and Circus Maximus will be available at the NTRPGCon as long as attendees interest stays at a high level.

In fact for 2012 Aliens will have a specifically assigned table and Allan's wonderful setup will be able to stay in place for the entire con...

IIIRC: Circus Maximus was played at the NTRPGCon last year for the first time.
This season was the 1st year it was turned into an actual tournament.

Just to clarify, Ronald:  I bought that set lock, stock, and barrel:  I didn't build it---would that I had such skills :D (although I am going to take a crack at making a matching Reactor Room board over the next year or so).

(apols.; catching up)
vault keeper wrote:I don't recall ever having seen an advertisement of Bifrost on the pages of Dragon magazine, for example.

Mhmm... not so well advertised in the US but don't underestimate the sales reach in the UK at that time vs. the US - very rapid growth in 1977/78 and not just for the main newsstand 'zine but also for sales during conventions: the GW Games Day had a higher attendance than GenCon in 1978, for example.

Bifrost vol. 1 had a lengthy, fairly positive review from Don Turnbull(!) and was distributed by both Esdevium and Games Workshop. As preempted by Don, the strange phased release schedule made things a bit more problematic for the later volumes even without publisher issues.

I love auctions in which photos are taken on top of the washing machine. No kidding, I see that a lot.

Good lot!

Probably stored near the washing machine as well (which looks to be in a basement).  Rusty staples, smell of mildew/mold, water warping.  Oh yeah...a collectors dream.
