I was the highest bidder but didn't meet the reserve price unfortunately. This seller bought one for 580$ 1-2 weeks ago so if his reserve is near that amount, I won't be able to cough it up.

Yeah, that was weird.  He bought and resold a few things in that Cthulhu spurt.  He made big money on the Black Seal set.

What I've been trying to figure out is why he is doing that.  Overspent?  Upgrading copies?  Scanning?  Nuts?

could be any of those.

it wasn't the same copy of courting madness that he bought in any case.

he also bought the other rare ones I believe, stark raving mad and another one.

ah well, i'll just keep looking for another one then

Well if you are curious as to what he wanted to get...

** expired/removed eBay auction **

he has re listed it with a BIN.

If I recall, these are pretty rare, but you do see them coming up on ebay.  maybe one or two a year.  Good luck!  :D

yeah I saw he relisted it. I'll keep an eye out to see where it goes pricewise.

But I don't think I will find them a lot cheaper.  :?

   It was sufficiently high that I unconsciously assumed that it was a BIN.

Oh, I see, he wants bidding to start at $450 and move upwards...  after it finished at little over $300 last time.  :?:

The one he just bought cost $500, so it's understandable.  Maybe not realistic, but understandable.

Reserve prices should not be allowed in an auction.  If a seller has a reserve price of $580 then the starting price should be $580 (and NOT eg 0.99c).

I was high bidder for 7 days and with 8 hours left tried to raise my highest bid as the chasing bids were getting close and the listing was ending while I would have been asleep for the evening (something like 3 AM or so my time).

My last bid attempts were all rejected...

I immediately E-Mailed the seller asking why, but it was no joy as the seller did not answer until it was far too late (30 minutes before listing ended).

Cher(ère) hnct217,

I have been the highest bidder on this item for a few days and even confirmed with you about bidding. I just tried to increase my max bid, but was rejected as not being able to bid at all.

- aneoth

Here is the sellers response to my question.

Dear aneoth,

I don't understand what has caused this, as I haven't touched this listing since posting it.
I've just had a look at the seller view of the listing and found that it had acquired a "don't sell to overseas buyers" tag, which I've just removed. So if you bid know (if you get this message in time, which I suspect is unlikely, given that the auction is set to finish in about 30 minutes).
I apologise once again, and can only assure you that it wasn't some underhand manoeuvre on my part.

- hnct217

I was VERY dissapointed in this. :(   And the seller should be a lot more dissapointed than I am too, as my revised high bid may not have won that listing anyway, but there is no doubt that his final sell price would have been GREATLY increased ...

The listing sold for just over 20 pounds and I was trying to bid 30 pounds.....

(I dont know how to make that UK money symbol)

The winner's maximum bid was actually exactly £20.01 (per the final result)...

I was outbid by less than one bid increment in more than one of their sales, so can empathise with that somewhat. :)
Had even offered to send them down a spare yellow "I" booklet to complete the set a couple of hours after the listing went up, but no interest!

At the very least the Seller ought to have the decency to indicate the Reserve Price in their auction so that potential bidders know if it is over or under their respective tolerance level.

Well, whoever sniped my wife on those Deadlands books should take a closer look at the auction description... all the box sets are missing the boxes. Had I saw that before I told her to bid, I wouldn't have bothered at all. Alas, hopefully another giant lot of awesome goodness will appear.
