Just placed an order with lulu. Had a hell of a time navagating through their site. When I started skimming through the Books>games category I was only able to get three pages in before it came up - no results.

I was able to follow some of the links provided here in a number of threads and pick up some issures of Fight On!, the Majestic Wilderlands and the Stonehell dungeon (the hohoho code still gives you a 20% discount).

Is anyone else having problems with the lulu search engines or skimming through the category pages?

I haven't had problems, Jason:  what web browser and version are you running?

IE not sure which version, and of course now it seems to be working. Even came across the ad for Knockspell #2 !

I'm on page #20 now. Lot of bad cover art, but some interesting stuff as well. Is Tomb of the Iron God any good?

It's a good introductory scenario as an old school dungeon crawl.  BBP will be publishing it again soon and pulling it from Lulu, too, so if you want a higher-quality book with lower shipping, you may want to wait a month or so on TotIG.

My favorite stand-alone scenario by Matt is still Spire of Iron and Crystal, although the adventure he published in KS#3 is quite good also:  "Tower of Mouths".

Well I searched through about 40 pages and some interesting items on LuLu. Anyone have any recommendations?

For example I've heard good things about Fight On! But what about knockspell?

I just picked up the first issue of Knockspell.  I cant really compare it to Fight On! since I dont have any issues of that yet.  I have read through about half of it and it definitely reminds me of the early issues of Dragon.  There is a short adventure written by Jeff (CZ:UW) Talanian in the first issue with a nice hand drawn map.  Peter Mullen's cover art is a really nice touch.  I have the second issue on order and will probably get the third at some point after Christmas.

Other Lulu items I can recommend:
Stonehell Dungeon by Michael Curtis
G4 Sanctum of the Stone Giant Lord by RC Pinnell
Spire of Iron & Crystal and Tomb of the Iron God by Matt Finch
The People of the Pit by Alphonso Warden

I should be getting my copy of The Majestic Wilderlands from Lulu hopefully before Xmas.  Expectations are high for that one as well.  :)

i think you'd enjoy Knockspell, Jason.  All the articles are written from an old school perspective; the game variations and suggestions are for OD&D and early editions.  There are quite a few NTRPG Con members work in Knockspell also...

Darn it, forgot to get Spire of Iron & Crystal as well.
Need to write down these things or bookmark this thread.  Also if anyone hears about other coupons/promotions through Lulu post them here.

Per my comment to Jason above, TotIG will be available from Black Blade within a month or so, as well.

Other products from Lulu that I recommend that haven't been mentioned yet:

- Monsters of Myth @ http://www.lulu.com/content/hardcover-b ... yth/582817 (a great book of new AD&D monsters, written mostly by folks at Knights & Knaves Alehouse, and the authors behind OSRIC and Swords & Wizardry; I placed several of these in my Castle Greyhawk game at North TX RPG Con!)
- Fief @ http://www.lulu.com/content/paperback-b ... ngs/228014 (this hasn't arrived yet, but I liked the first edition a LOT)
- City Encounters @ http://stores.lulu.com/mythmere (soon also to be print from BBP; this is a wonderful adjunct to/successor to Midkemia's Cities)

re: Lulu discounts, you can check their blog @ http://lulublog.com/ as well as the 25 Days of Xmas promotion @ http://www.lulu.com/gift_ideas#25days (runs through Christmas, obviously ;) ):  each of the latter is a single-day-only discount (today 12/22 is 50% off of buying a 2nd copy of the same book with the code "Dec22").  Also, you can use HOHOHO for 20% off of an order, but only once during the month (so make it count!).

This one looks particularly interesting - I love low fantasy reference material.

Found a pretty extensive free preview here:  http://www222.pair.com/sjohn/downloads.htm#fief

I did end up buying Fief a while back, on grodog's recommendation, and enjoyed it very much.

Apparently, there is a companion book out - Town.  As far as I can tell, it was released in June, but I hadn't heard about it until this morning.

$25 for the pdf (or $40 for the POD) is pretty steep, but the free preview is 48 pages, so that's a pretty fair sample!   8O
