Do issues 2 through 5 of the White Wolf magazine have any value?

Does anyone need them for archiving and/or completing a run of issues?

They are fairly cool looking issues. Personally I'd hang onto them, but I haven't seen them go for much.

All over the place for values from past sales.

#1 - and unfortunately not on your list - went for a starter $5 bid as did #2-5 when I didn't spot those until too late, poorly-listed (winner would not part with those "at any price"), whilst another time #1 was listed at $150 and vanished pdq. With only 40(?) copies or so for the start (or pre-start) of the namesake of a large company such as WW that shouldn't be too much of a surprise, I guess.

I'm still needing #3 here (*waves*), having picked up #2 from T&T for $33 (slightly low, IMO) and a spare #1 for $42 (well under-priced despite that $5 major-league miss). My previous #1 was from NKG many years back when Aaron had lower prices than now...
There was a comic shop with a couple of #4s at $20 for a long time and I swept those up when discounted to $10, but that issue is otherwise very rarely seen. #5 is more freely available at $5-10 although it looks rarer than it is and has sold a bit higher in the past.

Allan sold his early copies (missing #1, again) to Shannon Appelcline, IIRC; who was also not parting with those for any money. ;)

The editorial column from issue 8 of White Wolf has the following information:

June 1986 - Arcanum fanzine (precursor to White Wolf) - 30 copies
August 1986 - WW #1 - 140 copies
September 1986 - WW #2 - 200 copies
October 1986 - WW #3 - 200 copies
November 1986 - WW #4 - 300 copies
December 1986 - WW #5 - 120 copies (first), 1000 copies (second)
February 1987 - WW #6 - 1000 copies
April 1987 - WW #7- no print run mentioned

Good spot, thank you... that insertion of "40" as seen elsewhere into the /apparent/ gap in Shannon's list per http://www.rpg.net/columns/briefhistory ... ry11.phtml didn't seem particularly elegant. Repeated 200s makes much more sense. :)
#4 is a bit rarer than I had thought if that's the case and I guess I'll need to re-check why re. that relatively very small first run for #5?

Cheers,
David.

As with some other things I've gotten rid of over the years, I'd be interested in picking the early WWs back up

So far as I know, Shannon is still keeping the ones I sold to him years ago, but he's already said I have dibs if he decides to part with them at some point :D :D

I never had a copy of #1, and according to one of the Wieck brothers when I met them at DragonCon #1, they didn't have a copy of their own either, at that point.

I kept copies of the good articles (the vampire serial fiction, in particular), but that's just not same, is it?

Like others, they're on my list to get.  I'm not exactly making a huge effort to find them at this exact moment, but they're there. :)

Just a heads up in case anyone missed it, I noticed when ordering WW 8 - 16 the other day that Aaron at NKG has a White Wolf #5 up in "EX" condition for 5 bucks. Nothing earlier than that, though.

You snooze, you lose . . .

I was surprised at the interest for the early White Wolf issues.  With all the talk of other small fanzines, I figured that everyone already had these or had no interest in them at all.

I have the early issues.  Bought them as a gamer (as opposed to collector).

Never seen a copy of White Wolf on sale for very much...guess I haven't looked.

I bought a bunch of the earlier issues from NK a while back (but not the first few).  Since it seems like there are a few copies of the earliest issues out there, does anyone have a copy of "Curse Undying"?

I want the issues because I hear they have Shadowrun stuff in them; I want to read that. Eventually, I suppose.

[edit]

Looks I am stupid again. Got these confused with Challenge. Still, they do have Arduin and some other things in them, so they're still on my big ol' list of must-gets... some year.

Clarifying my previous post . . .

The White Wolf issues are spoken for.  Sorry for getting everyone else's hopes up and dashing them.     Lesson learned.
