Hi,

I have realised that quite a few of the Traveller items I picked up in a recent lot were published by Games Workshop - I imagine much like some early TSR mods were published by GW.

Basic set etc.

I hadn;t realised this before.

Anyone any more info please?

Cheers,
Malc

Games Workshop did distribute a few Traveller items in the UK, much like their arrangement with TSR.  I found this list online, but have no idea if it's complete:

IISS Ship Files
Games Workshop: Traveller 1 (1981)

Traveller Adventure 1: The Kinunir
Games Workshop, UK: Traveller 1 (1979)

Traveller Adventure 3: Twilight's Peak
Games Workshop, UK: Traveller 1 (1980)

Traveller Adventure 4: Leviathan
Games Workshop, UK: Traveller 1 (1980)

Traveller Adventure 6: Expedition to Zhodane
Games Workshop, UK: Traveller 1 (1981)

Traveller Adventure 8: Prison Planet
Games Workshop, UK: Traveller 1 (1982)

Traveller Double Adventure 2: Mission on Mithril/Across the Bright Face
Games Workshop, UK: Traveller 1 (1980)

Traveller Personal Data Files
Games Workshop: Traveller 1 (1981)

Traveller Supplement 11: Library Data (N-Z)
Games Workshop, UK: Traveller 1 (1982)

Traveller Supplement 8: Library Data (A-M)
Games Workshop, UK: Traveller 1 (1981)

Hey Malc,

I had several of the Games Workshop versions of the Traveller books up until I traded them to killjoy32 about a year ago.  I had multiple copies of several of the supplements and I figured since he was a Brit he would appreciate them more than I would.  :)

The only differences that I recall between the GDW and GW published books were:

1) Cover fonts were different.
2) Size of the GW published books were about 1/2" shorter than the GDW books.

That is all I can recall.  I dont believe there were any differences in page count, content, or publishing date.  If Al still has them he can most likely answer any additional questions you may have.

No difference in content or page-count, other than a small Games Workshop logo next to the GDW one on the copyright page.  If there's a difference in publishing date then it's probably next to impossible to find, as they all have the GDW publishing date.

I can't comment on how many books other than the ones Foul posted were printed by them though, as if that list is from where I think it is then it's pretty much a listing of which Games Workshop books were in my collection.

I'd say that they'd probably stopped printing them by the time of the Starter Edition boxed set though, as I'm pretty sure that my copy came from a UK-seller, and it has no reference to GW anywhere in it.

(There was also a small difference in page-width as well, from what I recall.  Though not as noticeable as the page-height.)

Hi all,

thanks for the info.

I do have the first basic box as GW as well, plus a load of supplements.

Weird, I'd just never noticed it before.

Guess it shows how much notice I take of Traveller!

I also have a Personal Data Record Sheet (Character sheet) by a company called Orwell Game Design, from 1981.

Its from pretty local to me, but still a new one on me?

Cheers,
malc

It looks like Orwell did 4 such sets:

  1.  001 Personal Data Record Sheets - Forms
  2. 002 World Data Record Sheets - Forms
  3. 003 Subsector Data Record Sheets - Forms
  4. 004 Event & Animal Encounter Record Sheets - Forms

I think I may have acquired on of these along the way too.

Was anyone else here watching this auction?

** expired eBay auction **

I've never seen mention of Raid on Reen on any Traveller forums and it isnt listed at the Traveller Bibliography.  Makes me think it either isnt for Traveller at all or it really is that rare.  Thought about bidding but there's the whole "disreputable seller" thing and all.  :?

Probably small fry like the Adjutant manuals for Traveller. I have a couple of those, but I don't recall seeing them on the Traveller Bibliography either.
