Can anyone tell me why we can no longer reply to threads in this forum?
I'm not the only one who has this problem in the UK, but we keep getting the message

when we try to post a reply, or preview a reply to an existing thread.
Any ideas? Is there a problem with just this sub-forumI did see Killjoy post in another thread, so presumably it's a local problem?

You lost me there, Faro, unless you were correcting my grammer?

I have a post that Jon e-mailed me because he is unable to post in the TS! thread, and when I go to post in that thread, I get the same message. I can only assume there is something within the body of the text that the forum is unable to handle. A set punctuation combination, or a set sequence of letters. Because I and type a response, I just can't post Jon's reply, and neither can he. How strange?

Foul? Any idea what causes the site to reject posts?

Was just replying to test, since you said that wasn't working.

Have seen other boards cough up a furball with particular characters/combinations thereof but have never seen that over here on this bb implementation.
Would ask if you'd like to PM that over to try if that was intended for public consumption.

I think it's either a word or a phrase, that is being rejected.
Short of posting Jon's e-mail line by like, I can think of no other way of narrowing it down. I'll give it a go though.

Well, unless he's suddenly taken a fancy to large, tawny felines, I ca'n't honestly think what might be causing that. ;)

Binary chop sounds like the best idea or could try with a cut-paste via a text-only editor of your choice, too, but wouldn't have expected anything non-display & problematic to have been getting through in the first instance.

Got it, Faro....
You can't post the word 'curl' followed by the word 'to' in a block of text. So if you post 'It makes my toes curl.....' it'll reject the the whole message. Presumable because of the letters 'url'. Looks like a glitch in the unicode.
Right. Back to the thread I was trying to add to.

Using the preview button to test this post . . .

url to works.

curl with a space after it does not work.

Very odd.

So curl_to (without the underscore) presumably is some unicode abbreviated command? A Google search throws up all sorts of stuff.

cUrl is a PHP module. PHP is not the most secure thing on the Web.

The word is probably semi-blocked to prevent "injection" attacks -- that's when somebody uses a freetext form to try to sneak a script command onto somebody else's server.

In fact, some googling turns up this thread, where an attack using that module turned an innocent photo gallery website into a spam-mailing monster.

A known bug (or in developer-speak, a "feature").  It's as Contrarian has surmised, though I believe the block is with my server host, not the phpBB software.

So my favorite Winter Olympic sport is mocked by phpBB as well.  :)

You should be able to use the word curling and for c_u_r_l use a "1" instead of an "l" as in cur1.
