What we send to cyberspace really does stick around forever....

A new update on Haalkitaine from Terry Amthor, for those interested @ Shadow World report – October 2019 | IronCrown :

The next big book coming up is Haalkitaine Second Edition. This is a massive update from the old first edition release way back in the 1990s. The timeline has been update, several sections expanded, and at last there are layouts of the sewers and the catacombs under the city, with a complete text key and the many NPCs and creatures inhabiting these underground areas. And finally, there are over a dozen all-new adventures! (The first edition had no adventures at all!) This book is looking to be over 240 pages, in full color of course. We are shooting for a release in late November.

Allan.

and so unassuming - it doesn't even have T&T on the cover. Strangely appropriate that it has Unicorn cover art.

There was a T&T 1st Print for sale several months ago

I think the owner was seeking appraisal here but I'm too lazy to search

I think they said it sold for $1500. IIRC they were complaining about they listed it for too low a price.

Thanks for that, Dave, my life is now complete. Anyone know how many copies Ken ran off? I wouldn't be surprised if it is rarer than a 1st print woody. I thought I recalled reading somewhere that it was less than a hundred.

Well, my reprint is # 2 of 35... but that probably isn't what you were asking :)

There's a nice write-up inside re the original... Ken writes 'the first edition was printed at the Arizona State University printshop in a limited edition of 100 copies, only a few of which still survive.'

He also mentions selling his last First Edition copy to help finance a Kickstarter project, a benefactor with a suspicious pseudonym of William Meineke :)

I have mentioned before that I did receive Ken's personal copy of 1st print Tunnels & Trolls for backing their 2013 Kickstarter at the $2000 level, so it's not some state secret. At the time the only really rare items I didn't have were a 1st print T&T and a Jade Hare with cover and I won both of them the same week. Sometimes one just gets lucky. Typical Ken, when he wrote up the CoA for me, he listed that I had contributed $1000 to the Kickstarter...

So, what can folks tell me about Beasts, Men, and Gods as a game/system/setting?---I've heard praise about it over the years from Frank and others, but don't really know anything about it?

How many does the collective here thinks exist today? Probably under 20?

Yeah, but only an old, creaky grognard would want a print copy. Just get a PDF -- all the kids are doing it that way these days!

This is a massive update from the old spiral-bound first edition release way back in the 1990s. And finally, there are over a dozen all-new adventures! (The first edition had no adventures at all!) This book is looking to be over 262 pages, in full color of course.

Haalkitaine Second Edition includes:

New: Sewer and Catacombs maps, with detailed descriptions and encounter charts.
More than a dozen all-new adventures, including palace intrigues, a few mysteries, and a growing threat from the Iron Wind.

   Updated history/timeline.
Many new NPCs that the players are likely to meet.
Many new organizations, including religions, cartels, and gangs.
A complete map of the city (including a full-size PDF for printing, which you can download for free in the ICE forum), with a text key to dozens of shops and other locations.

Free map download @ Haalkitaine large map if you're interested.

Looks like the print version is available now:  Shadow World: Haalkitaine & The Court of Rhakhaan - Iron Crown Enterprises | Rolemaster Classic | RMSS and RMFRP | Shadow World | DriveThruRPG.com

I've got a Q to Terry still pending about whether the new print versions include the large-format poster maps, or if they'll be available separately, etc.

Allan.
