Although I mainly use minis for showing relative location (and we have used lego-knights alongside 25mm minis for this), there is a definite joy in having everything look cool, if you can manage it. Going all the way back to my wargaming days, there's a real thrill in seeing a bunch of really well-painted, matched minis being used.

Having the "good looking" minis all at the same scale is a bonus over the top of a mix of coins, chessmen, lego-men, and a bunch of figures ranging from heroic 30mm to 25mm denoting relative locations. Even though relative location is all we actually USE them for.

And then after a while the matched sets seem sterile and too grown-up, and having a bunch of mismatched toys on the table becomes the ultimate in fun again. Imagination is a fickle bitch.  :D

Thanks to everyone for their comments and interest! In the next few days, I'll be posting some work-in-progress pictures of our latest sculpt from Jason Wiebe.

As of yesterday, the master models of the Peryton were being cleaned and getting readied for casting later this week - if that's the case, pre-orders should go live on Saturday or Sunday and I'll have the figures in hand for shipping early next week.

I'd like an update on these partial quote segments:

One of which is a polar worm whose official name begins with an R....but shhhh, we won't call it that!

Thanks for supporting old school miniature collectors.   :)

I spoke with (exchanged emails with) Jason Wiebe today, and he should have some WIP pictures of the above mentioned beastie by the end of the week.

Also discussing another much-in-demand critter with sculptor Tim Prow - that announcement will probably be even bigger than the r....polar wyrm.

Thanks, Allan, for the suggestion on that one.

Excellent!  The prices on the r....you-know-what's are $30.00 minimum (often much more) and fragile because of all the parts.  I am hoping for something sturdier and cheaper, but I guess I should have said that six months ago.     Still, I remain grateful for the efforts and the update.  Thanks!  :)

Iron Wind Metals informed me today that the Peryton castings as well as a re-stock of CSM-002b, Sea Devil W/Trident, will be in the mail on Friday afternoon! Pre-orders at www.centerstageminis.com are now live.

The Peryton will normally be priced at $10.95, but will be available through Sunday only for the pre-order price of $9.85. It's slightly pricier (by cents, anyway) than I had originally anticipated, but I set the original price based on a rough guesstimate of the casting costs.

Once I've got them in hand, I'll start shipping. Based on the email demand for the Peryton, I would recommend getting your orders in soon, as I fully anticipate the original casting run to sell out. I'm debating making them available individually AND in a package of three - they do run in groups (flocks)!

Tim Prow has accepted and will be getting started on the first 28mm in our Advanced Fantasy Miniatures - Planeswalkers line. It's a demon with two heads - I nicknamed her (it?) Molly Deuce.

Good news!  I like the idea of you offering it singly and in a flock.

Couple of questions.  Is that a slotta base with flocking or a solid base or something else?  Also, could you picture that next to a ruler or a common miniature to get a better idea of size reference?  Thanks!   8)

Benjoshua, here is the Peryton next to a Warhammer Quest miniature.

Hope that helps!

Oh yeah!  I am pleased to see the solid base.  I have never been much of a slotta base kinda guy.  Thanks!  :)

Nice work, Matt, the peryton is really nice.

Want to swap some for a few Otherworld Miniatures?

Here are some WIP pics of upcoming CSM-007, Glacial Wyrm, sculpted by Jason Wiebe.

Note that there is no detailing on these sculpts as of now, they were just forwarded so that I could see the "shape" of the wyrm.

Comments welcome!

Excellent!  I think it looks great!  I am guessing there is little to no pieces to construct, and I love the solid base (as opposed to slotta).  Finally, what's the height?  Overall, I like it!  :D

I'll see if I can get some dimensions on the sculpt from Jason.

And thanks for the compliment, Richard. PM sent.

Hey, glad to see things moving forward Matt :D  I'm also glad to hear that your two-headed Molly's got legs (so to speak...).

Well, it looks like the Glacial Wyrm is taking a little longer than expected, but I do have some WIP photos of CSM-008, a Molydeus. Sculpted by Tim Prow.

The snake head should be added today and the miniature finished up tomorrow. Will be available for an April or May release.
