As for other minis, there is a BIG announcement on the horizon in September.

Thanks for the update.  Muchly appreciated.   :)

There IS one other monstrous creature on the table right now, and he's going to be a biggun. This is a WIP of our first resin kit - with one of our 28mm barbarians for size comparision.

Any guesses? Remember, this is just for size and basic shape, none of the details have been added...

Dragon Turtle?  Or Tarrasque?  :?  I'll go with Tarrasque.

Nah, those are a lot smaller. But I can see where the shell might make you think so.

Given the creature's propensity to take whatever it wants and step on anyone who gets in the way, you may be right, Joan!

Looks like that guy (or gal) on the cover of the Manual of the Planes...though he/she was one-eyed. Can't remember the name.

OTOH, looks like my better half when I told her about the Reaper kickstarter buy! Kidding! :D

Hector.

I did edit the post, but about one minute of the original post.  You must have just missed it.   No problem; it looks like a cool, and large, mini.  Thanks for revealing it. 8)

I am curious about this miniature.  At $6.99 + shipping I feel like I got a good deal.

I cannot find reference to it on Grenadier Miniatures sites.  This guy is spooky-looking and carries considerable heft.  He stands 60mm from base to top of head.  His stone hammer is 50mm long and he's heavy and thick as hell.

The clamshell container is cracked and the lower left corner has a hole broken through it.  The label (dried and fallen off) on the back reads "Grenadier Models #9209 Goliath "Linebacker" Troll."  I am wondering if I should open the package and paint this creeyp badboy or have I got some sort of classic/rare miniature in hand?  What do you think?

I don't know if he's rare or not, but he was a part of a series called "Battle Sets." Some of these were boxed and all of the 9200 series were just blisters.  The stuff of legends web-site shows other blisters in the set.

5000 Fantasy Warriors
5001 Fantasy Warriors Companion

5350 The Fiend (Balrog)

5401 Juggernaut

9002 Orc Battleset
9003 Dwarf Battieset
9004 Orc Wolf Rider
9005 Orc Generais War Chariot
9006 Hobgoblins
9007 Dwarf Cannon
9008 Goblin War Band

9201 Cyclops Berserker
9202 Undead Catapult w/Skulls & Crew
9203 Mountain Dwarf Command Group
9204 Hvy Bolt Thrower w/Hunchback Gunner
9205 Heavy Catapult
9206 Skeleton Throne of Doom w/Bearers
9207 Tree Spirit

I have sold many of the 9200 blisters and they usually sell for $7.00 to $15.00 each plus shipping.  I personally have my last 9201 Cyclops Berserker up for sale in the Dragonsfoot Classifieds.

FormCritic,

Yours is part of the Fantasy Warriors Grand Pack Line, some of which are listed in the Lost Minis Wiki (I didn't see yours). It appears to be at least somewhat uncommon, according to The Fantastic Worlds of Grenadier (where it is listed in the product index):

"The very last figures produced for the Fantasy Warriors line appeared in early 1995, and came in re-closable plastic grand packs. Although printed and sometimes even hand-written on the front or back of the Grenadier Fantasy Warriors decal of the pack, the product listings and titles did not appear in Grenadier's last official catalogue, 1994's Grenadier Models Mega Catalog #1 - the cover of which featured Rubin's artwork for the Kill Zone boxed game. Speculation has it that these last Grenadier figures were sculpted and produced in limited numbers and in a hurry, but were never officially released. As none of the traditionally-listed information, pertaining to the sculptor or sculptors, creature background, or company address(es), was listed anywhere on the packaging of these mystery products, and as Andrew Chernak admits (albeit a foggy recollection) sculpting several of these figures (including the one pictured to the right [Stone Giant]), one can only surmise that this speculation is likely the truth."

If it was in my hands, I'd be inclined to open it up and paint it. I'd only leave it in the package if you were trying to collect the entire run of 92XX minis.

Perhaps you could shoot Grodog a PM, as he is working with Terence Gunn on the revised & expanded version of The Fantastic Worlds of Grenadier. And if you want to shoot me the pic you took of your troll, I could add it to the Lost Minis Wiki. Hope that helps!

Tom

I hope Matt will come on and talk about this some more....what an awesome purchase if you love old school miniatures from the 80s!

"Effective September 14th, 2012, the entire Grenadier CLASSIC range sculpted by Julie Guthrie consisting of some 180 figures, has been sold to Center Stage Miniatures."

More information tonight on the CSM website and Facebook page."
