Well, at the time I was asked, it had not been. But, Steve just gave the official word here so, it does seem there will no longer be a Lake Geneva Gaming Convention. :(

Thanks for the info, Serl.  Odd that just last week the official word was it was on, I wonder what happened in the last week to change their minds?  It did strike me as difficult putting on two cons (LGGC and Trollcon) pretty much back to back in June/July.

I feel bad for anyone with a non-refundable room or airline ticket....hopefully everyone held off on buying these.

On the plus side, the North Texas RPG con might get Rob Kuntz as a guest as a result!

Are you sure?  Could you verify it on the TLG forum?

Probably no support from those NY resellers :)

Probably true.  Back to back months in different regions is tough.

I have a suspicion that what may have motivated the timing is that GaryCon was a big success and appears to be able to stand on its own and become an annual event, making the 2 (one in spring, one summer) somewhat redundant.  Just my personal speculation, though.

I was also wondering if the Milwaukee Spring Revel still exists and who actually runs it?  Maybe if Frank or Tom happen by, they'll know.

D'oh. I arrive July 8th in Chicago. Little Rock might be a bit far to go.

I was hoping if LGGC was cancelled, Trollcon might be in the same vicinity.

Thanks for the info, Serl.

Regards

Mike

Another factor, I'd guess, is that the Trolls seem to have initiated LGGC as a favor to Gary.

With him gone and Gail taking the product elsewhere, it doesn't make a lot of business sense for the Trolls to be running off 1000 miles from home to run a convention (and a small one, mostly interested in oop products, at that).

(Again, purely my personal not-necessarily-fully-informed speculation here)

If you happen to have any specific Chicago questions, I might be able to help.
I don't spend much time in the city proper, so addresses and public transportation are iffy for me, but visitor-y sites I may be able to point out.
