I have a couple of the 1986 boxed sets. The introductory module states that the following are included:

- 128 page rulebook
- 32 page introduction / adventure book
- 16 page display book
- set of cardboard characters with plastic stands
- pair of 20-sided dice

Neither of my sets has plastic stands and neither have dice. Can someone confirm that these came with the set. And were they 20 sided or 10 sided dice. One of mine has two lots of cardboard cutouts - is this normal or do I have an extra set?

Going by memory (I can check when I get home), mine has the plastic bases for the fold-up characters and dice. The dice IIRC, were two 20-siders numbered 0 to 9 twice (no teens or 20).

Alright. Checked my stuff... and then checked the game box <rimshot>

Yes to plastic bases for the characters. Yes to dice. Both are 20-siders with digits 0-9 twice (no teens). Can't really tell about the cutouts, since some of mine are, well, cut out, but it seems there were originally two sheets of them with different characters/creatures on each sheet.

Hope this helps.

Thanks. It does. Both my sets must be missing the dice and plastic stands!

I seem to remember my buddy's set having smaller that normal precision-edged d20s.

Several boxes up on EBay.

This has the plastic bases, and what looks like a small single die (mine has two larger ones).

HERE

No mention or photo of plastic bases nor dice.

HERE

Mentions missing dice (plural), no mention of plastic stands one way or the other.

It's painful being a 'complete' junkie. I'll probably have ten sets before I finally get some plastic bases and dice  :bounce:
