Thanks to Mars pointing out the seller, got me wondering if the Reilly books are any good?

The Dungeon Trap Handbook sounds interesting-ish, but perhaps a waste if you already love to design traps?  16 pages.

Journey to the Cloud Castle sounds interesting-ish:  I like cloud castles, and it has a dragon.  13 pages.  But, is it any good?

Enchanted Treasures also sounds interesting-ish, but at just 36 items in the book, not sure the price is worth it, even though it's the biggest book at 20 pages.

So, thoughts on these and other (?) Reilly books?

Reilly Associates did a lot of books - more than most people realize and most of which I haven't been able to find ... yet.  Here's my list of what I think were published:

Variant Fanzine (#1-16)
Dungeon Trap Handbook
Enchanted Treasures
Enchanted Treasures Vol 2
Journey to the Cloud Castle (stapled, coil bound)
Dungeon Traps
Son of Dungeon Traps
Player Character Chronicle
Town Plans
Planetary Geodesic Survey Maps
Science Fiction N.P.C. Record
Space Ship Registry
World Statistical Catalog
Interstellar Trade Ledger
Aboard the Death Ship (1982)

A good number of them are for Traveller and their fanzine is called Variant which ran for 16 issues (Crazy Egor has some of these for a reasonable price too).

I should take a look through the books again but off hand I think they were probably above average but didn't have anything that really stands out.

I have four of the Reilly Associates items, which I put up on the Wiki with brief descriptions a while ago:

http://wiki.acaeum.com/wiki/Category:Reilly_Associates

The Dungeon Trap Handbook is just a series of tables for random generation of traps using percentile dice. Journey to Cloud Castle is a neat little adventure.

These items are quite rare, so they probably have more value to  collector than use as a role-playing resource per se.

I also have Enchanted Treasures Vol 2 which I posted on the Tome:

http://tomeoftreasures.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4227

and a complete set of Variant fanzines.  Brett has one or two others as well.

Most of the others I have never seen.

I've seen the product list is printed on some of the items. I have been keeping an eye out too ... but seeing them so seldom has made me wonder if they were ever actually released. Have you been able to confirm that they were? Are all of those above listed in Heroic Worlds?

Anyone care to print a photo of Son of Dungeon Traps? It was speculated on the old Afterglow that it never made it to print? Also, anyone know if Journey to Cloud Castle is worth reading? Or is it shite? Wouldn't want to go hunting and bidding and find King Lout's cousin at the end of the rainbow.

BTW, Mars. Spectacular find there with Dungeon of the Necros. That has to be one of the best little gems I've seen surface in the last year or so. Wonder who did the graphics?

This week I've been mostly eating . . . The white ones with the little red flecks in them.

Anyone know how Dungeon Traps and Son of Dungeon Traps compare to the Dungeon Traps Handbook?---speculating, but sounds to me like the latter may be a compilation of the former two if they're earlier releases.

As a DM, you can never have enough traps books :D :D

I was just looking through the Variant fanzines and Son of Dungeon Traps is listed for sale in the first issue:

Son of Dungeon Traps -- Nine more traps are completely described and diagramed. $1.00

It is listed with Dungeon Trap Handbook, Enchanted Treasures and Planetary Geodesic Survey Maps - all of which were produced so there are probably more copies of Son out there than the one in Brett's collection.

Hey did anyone here win this Traveller auction. It says it included Reilly Associates' Interstellar Trade Ledger, World Statistical Index Cards (Catalog?) and Space Ship Registry:

** expired/removed eBay auction **

I'd be really interested to hear some details on the items.

I put in a bid but didn't win.  I sent the winning bidder a email about the Reilly Associates items.  He is not interested in selling them but maybe he would share some details about them - I'll ask.

My guess is that they are forms packs such as Planetary Geodesic Survey Maps.

BTW, why doesn't Serleran have a complete set of these?  He seems to be around Rochester.

Literally Son of Traps is just a couple of sheets stapled together, not even cover artwork from memory...I'll post a pic when I find it;)

Only on weekends. But, I've not really tried hard to hunt them down (I don't really like the Traveller game and have no interest in collecting it) -- I'll go to the big game store there and make a call out for them. Shouldn't be hard to track and find.

LOL I'm glad you are optimistic :)  Reilly Associates was initially based out of their gaming store in Rochester.  I forget the initial name of the store but it later became Adventures & Hobbies (which is also their Ebay store name).  Crazy Egor started out working for them/selling some stuff in their store by consignment.  Then, later opened his own store instead.  Crazy Egor has a couple articles in their Variant fanzine as well.

I've asked around these two places for what is still around but nothing new :(

Just working on the RA collection this morning and I'm curious about the stock numbers...

I've found:

109 Dungeon Trap Handbook
110 Enchanted Treasures
112 Journey to Cloud Castle

Anyone know what # 111 is?

Thanks in advance :)

I draw the line at collecting... D&D beach towels.

Shoulda been: ".. from Pangreenia to Floratopolis, from mystical Treeonia of spectral Forests to Schruborial dimensions." - The Forests of Leng

If anyone does, it'd be Mars. I do recall something missing from that list, but I don't think it was D&D. Was there anything on the old Afterglow site?
