The smell is pretty faint on mine.  I will probably stick them in a box with a dryer sheet or something along those lines and the smell will be gone in a few days.  Gotta look at the bright side....they could have come smelling like a bum's ass or guacamole that has been sitting out in the hot sun for a couple of days.  :P

But you are removing smoke particles that have touched the lungs of the great Rob Kuntz . . . burnt paper and tobacco that have touched the lips of this mighty scribe . . .

Yep, I definitely noticed it on mine.  It was very apparent when I opened the mailers.

I'm disappointed that these new products have the odour of smoke.  Though it is easily fixed (thanks to the "mustiness" thread viewtopic.php?t=6055&highlight=odors), I shouldn't have to spend my time deodourizing a brand new product.

I'm glad I'm not allergic, because I don't see any other recourse than returning the items. I hope this issue is addressed by PPP for future releases.

Best,

Hi,

mine have a faint tobacco sort of odour - like a pipe, or good cigar.

Cheers,

That's funny, the rare runic copies I have smell like marijuana.

Just under 2 years after ordering, mine has arrived today (Runic Q) and yes mine smells and yes, very pleased to see it sent in a more sturdy cardboard mailer.  And, yes, it looks great!

Also, I notice from my Paypal account that it paid to preorder... back then it was almost $2 to 1GBP!   8)

Is this really 27, 28 and 29 of Runic edition?

Any ideas how far runic goes? Also, are these included in the 200 signed and numbered editions.  I know this was discussed about Bottle City, the LE appeared to be numbered to 36(?)ish and have some additional "author" copies, and then some replacements made due to damaged mailings.  I assume therefore around 60-80 of the larger maps were printed.
Not too worried really, but it would be nice to know how limited these editions really are.

That's my assumption.  I also assumed that these were the author's prints in this case, but maybe I'm mistaken.

My books also came with the smoke smell.  It's not a biggie, though.  Airing them out will fix that.  ;)  Or... as mentioned earlier, maybe it makes them more desirable!  lol

An author leaving an odor on something, rather than a signature... that is an interesting idea.  LOL!  ;)

Hmm... I wonder if anyone ever considered making a scratch-n-sniff module.  hehe

#112 Smoking Room
"In the corner of the room is a large pile of dried weeds. A wisp of smoke rises gently from the pile, lingering in the air and itching the eyes. You can just make out embers in the pile; almost as if a great evil was once extinguished here." If PCs linger in this room to search or discuss what they see, make a roll for each character save vs. poison. Those that fail suffer -1 constition at age 50 and -1 constitution each subsequent year thereafter.

Mine arrived in the UK today, #25. Each of them priced that way with a single certificate. So I guess if these ever crop up on eBay they'll be sold as a set, or orphans without certificates. No chance to open them up, but my impression is that Demonic Archane and The Stalk are loose leaf photocopies with coloured paper covers (thought maybe the cover would be two colour printed with a fade like the advert). Are they stapled like The Living Room?. Didn't open them, so cannot comment of on smell of those two.

Really like the look and feel of ERKAT. Dingied corners, but that's International Shipping for you. Perfect bound is just splendid and gives a distingct professional feel to the book. No decernable smell to this one. No real freshly printed smell either, but nothing noticably smokey that I could pick up. Could be that the photocopies were stored seperately from ERKAT, as they would have come in boxed from Lulu or wherever.

Very pleased with what I got at a very good price. Don't think we're gonna see collectables here like we did with CotSK and ToB. Hopefully we'll see those in PDF shortly.

The smokiness of my bundle was not limited to ERKAT - one of the bagged items was smokey too.

All in all, it seems like the smokiness effected a number of copies which is really a shame.  I'm sure I will end up buying the products that PPP has planned but I hope they can fix the little hassles that seem to crop up.

Neither is mine.
