I agree, but probably not for awhile....you can still find them on the shelves of local gamestores.

What about CZ Yggsburgh?

I doubt it. It was availble for many years online and in stores, and is not as "iconic" a product as the dungeons themselves.

What about the CZ City Expansions?

Perhaps....they didn't seem to be distributed to retail outlets as much as the other items like the hardback.

And then there's Dark Chateau. None of the rest seems particularly scarse ATM.

Although this has been available for awhile, it does seem a  little harder to find than the usual C&C item, plus it's inter-related to the Upper Levels (in the same area and can be adventured in during the same time).  I'd look for this one to be sought after if people eventually figure out it's relationship to the Upper Levels.

If you are talking about collectible as in going for more than cover price, I think it will be a while before that happens for anything other than CZ:UW - most of the regular Goodman Games DDC mods are in this category as well.

The retail of CZ Yggsburgh was $35(?) the other expansions were $18-$20(?) - these just from memory.  Those are some pretty steep barriers to climb.  As well as being available for a long time, these items were also sold at reduced prices several times.

CZ:UW was $45 and a lot of people got them for less than that but TLG never put it on sale.  As far as a product goes, it is a great bang for your buck, boxed set with lots of poster maps, low print run, limited availabitily, Gygax's last big one.  This one just has everything going for it.

I got CZ:UW figured, but I just didn't know about any of the other products. Might try to get me a Dark Chateau or two if I can snag them without international shipping. A lot of stuff that's on the shelves in the US doesn't appear on the shelves here in the UK. The RPG distribution chain here is pretty decrepid and controlled almost exclusively by a single distributor. So if they only bring in 50 copies that's all that ever makes it in. Hopefully some of the UK online outlets will still have DC.

This week I've been mostly eating . . . The white ones with the little red flecks in them.

There aren't many places that have C&C products on the shelves here either.

Gary Gygax's Castle Zagyg: Yggsburgh
((these were still being given away in the Christmas Sale with subscription to the Crusader Magazine))
Gary Gygax's Castle Zagyg: Upper Works
((Discussed earlier above))
Gary Gygax's Castle Zagyg: The Dungeons
((Not being published - least not through Troll Lords))
GG's CZ: The Free Town of Yggsburgh: Town Halls
((1st print, Gen Con release since it had map problems, also only one with more pages then 2nd print - 52pgs))
GG's CZ: The Free Town of Yggsburgh: Town Halls
((2nd print - 44 pages))
GG's CZ: The Free Town of Yggsburgh: Moat Gate
((1st print, Gen Con release since it had map problems, 44 pages))
GG's CZ: The Free Town of Yggsburgh: Moat Gate
((2nd print - 44 pages))
GG's CZ: The East Mark Gazetteer (Folio)
((Not really anything new since the CZ box set release))
Gary Gygax's Castle Zagyg: Dark Chateau
((Discussed earlier))
GG's CZ: The Free Town of Yggsburgh: East Corner
((Not being published - least not through Troll Lords))
GG's CZ: The Free Town of Yggsburgh: The Storehouse District
((Last FToY book released))

I've got to wonder about those that worked on the Free Town of Yggsburgh books just how much got completed for those not announced or not released.  I was one who got the emails and little bit of info about the project, but couldn't commit the time to the project so was removed.  I'd have to see if the emails have contacts for those involved if people are curious.

Some of the authors have said they would release the material on their own. Others are waiting on Gygax Games. Some, like me, who are involved with every single one of them, are in a state of total limbo.

So, the best bet is to wait and see what happens, since nothing has... yet.

I think that when all the products were pulled from TLG, that the rights to each of the modules reverted back to the authors.  I wonder if this gives the authors the authority to republish them (if so can they use the Castle Zagyg name or setting?).

No, they cannot. That was property of Trigee, now Gygax Games.

I thought as much.  They would have to change it to Castle Xagig or something like that :)

GG's CZ: The East Mark Gazetteer (Folio)

There are two printings of this. The one released at GenCon 2007 which was autographed by Gary -- there is a finite number of these -- and the one sold to the general, non-attending, public after GenCon which are not signed.

Well that makes two.  Avur when did you get your set, if I may ask?  Does your pattern match my description?

A name like that is just asking for another WG7 treatment of the castle.  The Elmer Fudd and Tweety Bird sub-levels, anyone?

I think this is what makes it tempting for the individuals to publish the modules on their own or together as a group.  It seems like a couple of the modules were only available as pdfs so to do a limited print run now might make sense because who knows when everything at Gygax Games will get sorted out.

Very few things in life actually prompt me to sit down and write an email such as the one I am writing here.  But I am just so disgusted right now that I feel I have to say something.

Last night I spent no less than 3 hours trying to locate a copt of the Upper Works.  Effectively the product no longer exists.  The closest I came was a lead from Noble Knight games but I should expect to pay $75-$100 for it, assuming it can be gotten.

I don't pretend to know anything about game licensing....I don't.  Nor do I care about how such things works.  Here's what I do know and care about: At some point I purchased the 1st volume of Castle Zagyg.  Having liked it well enough and hearing about further releases of the series I was looking forward to the next release.

So what happened?  Is it because I didn't pre-order the thing that I am now sitting here scratching my head?  Or did I just miss the boat because there was essentially only a 30-day window to get this product?  What did I do wrong?

The thing that really annoys me most is this product still exists.  Someone (TLG or Gygax Games?) is doing a terrible disservice.  I don't know who or for what reasons but they need to get off their high horse and distribute this product.
