Just received a 1966 fanzine, FANTASY ILLUSTRATED #6. Contributing writer Steve Perrin [RuneQuest, Superworld] of 150 Rose, SF, CA 94132 has "The Origin of The Black Phantom," a character who apparently shows up in Perrin's later RPG material.

However the references I can find are spotty: a blog with someone converting TBP's Superworld stats to Champions [I think], & a little bit on the author's own site, perrinworlds.com.

Anybody out there who's familiar with superhero RPGs who can tell me more about this character, or about Perrin's early career?

I can only tell you that I recognize Steve Perrin's name.

But since you mentioned RuneQuest and Superworld, it probably wouldn't be a surprise to you.

I recognize the name from Stormbringer.

Steve Perrin and Ken St. Andre.

And that's literally all I know!

I don't know much more!

Here's a database entry for him (gives an email address if you're cheeky/pushy 8O

(There's some good stuff on that list - a chap of diverse imagination)

You can never have too much of something you didn't need in the first place.
