Anyone know of any other Car Wars type games (battle or RPG)?  The only ones that come to mind are:

Car Wars by Steve Jackson
Autoduel by Steve Jackson
Battle Cars by Games Workshop

These seemed to have done fairly well suggesting that maybe another company might have released something similar.

I know of no other complete systems, though Task Force Games released five generic modules under the title "AutoVenture". These are:

The Gauntlet

Hell on Wheels

Street Fighter

Turbofire

&

UltraForce

Three of these, I put in links to items on Ebay with BINS.

There was a collectible miniatures game called Racer Knights of Falconus a few years ago.

I immediately thought of Thunder Road ... which led to looking it up on BGG ... which led to this nice list. Here's 18 such games:

You're not paying attention - only 17 as Battlebikes is an expansion of Battlecars

(BTW I loved Car Wars - many hours spent on that one back in the day - Designing Cars was the only time I could ever have been described as a power gamer - there were so many loopholes and geeky things you could do - happy days indeed :D )

Me, too ... Car Wars vehicle design was the first time I ever became interested in "min-maxing" ... although that expression didn't even exist at the time (or at least I never heard it).

In my experience, vehicle design is actually Car Wars' "dirty little secret." Yes, the game can be fun to play, but I lost count of the number of gamers I knew over the years who finally admitted that they really just liked to design cool cars. In some cases, those players rarely, if ever, played ... and I include myself in that group. I probably designed 30 cars for every one game of Car Wars that I actually took part in.

Fun stuff, either way.

Avalon Hill gave a try also: Roadkill

Looks fairly similar to Car Wars, but I never tried it.

I played in a game once where the player refused to pay for an engine, spending the money/space/weight instead on weapons and armor.

But since all cars are ruled to enter the arena at 60 mph (or whatever), he shot into the arena, rolled to a stop, sat in place and unloaded on everyone else. :)

I once had the "Road Hogs" supplement for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Other Strangeness (TMNTAOS) RPG.

The setting was post-apoc U.S. (typical Mad-Max stuff but with mutant animals), and IIRC it had rules for vehicle combat.

I was looking at this one.  I find it interesting how well used the art on the cover of the rulebook is.  Also used for the Fighting Fantasy book, cover of the computer game Nitro, its in another GW game too.

Yes - I knew that I'd seen the artwork somewhere before (thought it was because I've been flicking through old WD's and I'd seen it on an advert).

I think the 4 issue comic series "Car Warriors" is also an official Car Wars item too.
