Quick question to anyone in the know.

I need a Traveller online resourse as  I really cannot  be bothered to scour dozens of sites so just a couple of recomendations would be a great help.

What I specifically need is a history of the traveller Imperium campaign  through out the various incarnations of the game, with details of the various empires and changes. (I realise that the official history is a bit fragmented)

(Or anyone want to offer a quick primer, including complete timeline, with alternate paths and histories 8O )

(Oh and any stuff about alternatives - Judge Guild etc would be nice as well!)Cheers in advance

Carl

It's a Case of Ebay Strikes again. It will be funny for all those who said they had one in the other forum to see them pop up. I did notice in the auction it looks like there are some extras which might be rare some of the other collectors here will know for sure. Just goes to show that you never know what will happen on ebay. Good luck to you Selln. Hope it doubles and any of you long time collectors dealers have any idea what is in the set that is causing such a run?? Always good to know in case we see more of these sets around.

I have found this site to be quite useful:  http://www.downport.com/
You should find links to just about everything you might be looking for.

Well considering that I own everything shown in the auction and only paid more than ten dollars for one item (Atlas of the Imperium) I think it is safe to say that there is some serious goofiness going on in that auction.  For one, none of the Traveller heavy-hitters that usually rear their heads are bidding on this auction.  I have participated in or watched a lot of serious Traveller auctions over the past few years and nothing like this has even come close.

This buyer looks to be a music collector, not an RPG collector.  I don't have a clue what would have pushed the buyer to bid $100 much less $1000.  Factor in a zero feedback bidder and a bidder with 8 feedback and you have yourself one screwed up end to this auction.

If sellnnbuyn gets paid the $1000, which I seriously doubt, I would fully expect for him to at least ship the buyer a full-size bottle of KY just as a courtesy.

Starter Traveller: $10 at most, less if not complete.
Alien Modules 1-5: $10 each, depending on condition.
Atlas of the Imperium: @$45, depending on condition.

The map and game pieces are not Traveller material.

I'll be generous and say that $80 would be a bit high, but not overly so.  $1000 is ridiculous, and the long-time ebayer you mention is an idiot who didn't do his homework and now is paying through the nose, if he pays at all.

It's a fraud.

He'll never get paid, even if the auction is legit, which I doubt.  Even if the seller comes here and tells us he's been paid I won't believe it..it's that much of a joke.  Good luck to anyone else putting one up...you'll get the standard $80-90 bucks and not much more.

It's really not us that you have to worry about, bro — we're not the ones that charged your credit card for a $1,000 final-value fee the instant that that ... whatever it is ... ended.

If this is some sort of joke or scam, it's an expensive one. eBay always makes sure its cut comes off the top.

Good man!

BTW

** expired/removed eBay auction **

seller has quite a few semi-interesting Traveller items for sale - i highlight this one only for sentimental reasons - one of my most memorable ever gaming experience took place in the school chemistry lab using these maps - ah happy days!!

The Traveller Downport is THE one place you need to go to for Traveller material.  The thing is, you need to have a little patience digesting it all, since there is material for four different editions of the game, with a fifth in the works, and the rarely mentioned (THANKFULLY) d20 abomination.  The good news is that most of the material available is system agnostic and can be plugged in regardless of edition.  But, you also have to decide just what kind of Traveller junkie you are, and there are a few kinds.

Have fun.  The Downport has been a valuable resource to me for years.

I've started ploughing through a few bits there - good stuff, but yet another time-sink! So much for the big clearout this year

That's barely the tip of the iceberg though.  There is so much Traveller material out there that is NOT part of the Downport.  But, you can send me all your Traveller stuff gratis, and that would certainly solve the problem.
