As an aside, the Hastings chain in the U.S. often has Necromancer d20 books for cheap.  They are usually on the worn side and discounted to under $10 apiece.

Green Ronin's  The Black Company at a good price.  This is the hardest to find book in the Mythic Vistas series.  It's a thick hardback devoted to Glen Cook's fantasy book series.

The original price was $44.99

Worth jumping on if you don't have a copy.

Green Ronin released a Thieves World Gift Set with 5 books combined in a slipcase. Anyone know if this was a limited release set or something ?

I don't believe it was. It also seems, at least to me, to be readily available from online retailers and even a few stores.

It seems pretty clear from the sales Green Ronin has posted...and the appearance of Thieves World items at Half Price Books...that the line did not sell well.

Until recently, copies of the boxed set were available discounted online.

As for something special...well...maybe.

Sooner or later, people will come looking for items like the Thieves World special edition.  When they do, it will be valuable.  Until then the answer has to be "no."

Other than the slip case itself, I don't believe there is anything that couldn't be obtained separately.

The Thieves World items in general did not generate a lot of excitement.

Possibly, they were hampered by high cover prices...like a lot of D20 items.

(I bought them on a Green Ronin fire sale on Paizo.com)

Possibly, the Thieves World name did not hold as much magic as it might have been expected to.

Who here follows the whole Thieves World line of novels?   When did the last one come out?

(Robert Asprin died in 2008 - Did that end the project?)

The last new novel was a year before the d20 books.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thieves_World is correct (except for noting Vengeance of Markeesh - which wasn't published).

I have read only one later Thieves World novel.

I have a couple of the early story compilations.

I find them uneven.  It is hard to tell which characters are supposed to have what skills.

One of the characters is presented sort of as a housewife who is forced to go on an adventure...then she proves to have all of these thieving skills.  I couldn't tell what I was supposed to think about her.

The characters read to me like extras in a Conan story...the characters who die along the way while Conan wins through.

Also, I found the setting hard to grasp.  Sanctuary seems to be both a backward provincial city and a major metropolis.  The culture seems to be a sort of Conan-esque Aquilonia but somehow set in a sinister Middle Eastern locale that somehow has Far Eastern elements with occidentals playing roles as orientals....as if Robert E. Howard was having an off day.

I haven't read through the Thieves World D20 publications.  They are pristine...unread...on my shelf.

I have everything.  I think I even have the graphic novel adaptations.

The earliest anthologies (the first four or six or so) were the best, and then I felt the series lost its way a bit.

My d20 books are also unread.

Hi,

I saw a few items in your list for which I have a different productnumber

11644        The Forge of Fury
11647        Hero Builder's Guidebook
11829        Sword and Fist
11830        The Speaker in Dreams
11838        The Standing Stone
11840        Defenders of the Faith
11843        Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil
11845        Tome and Blood
11847        Heart of the Nightfang Spire
11850        Manual of the Planes
11852        Enemies and allies
11855        Deep Horizon
11857        Song and Silence: A Guidebook to Bards and Rogues

I didn't check all the books but I pulled out Sword & Fist and Defenders of the faith and they definately mention the number I put here.

Thanks for that confirmation, on another partial list I made I had those numbers.  It's when I found a larger list I thought maybe I messed up.  Good to know.
