otherworld wrote:Resin is very easy to work and paint.  It's pretty tough, but not brittle, is fairly light and paints well after washing in warm, soapy water (to get rid of residues of mould release agent).  Make sure you give it a good spray enamel undercoat, and paint away.  You can carve it with a sharp hobby knife, file it and sand with fine sandpaper.  Finished resin models can sometimes contain small air buubles, but they're easy to fill with modeling putty.

Thanks, Richard.  Good stuff :D  What're the dimensions of the figure (height/width/weight)?  It looks BIG, assuming that's a human-sized figure next to it!

The model is 80mm tall to the top of the horns, and 80mm across, elbow to elbow.  Not sure of the weight yet until I get castings made in resin, but probably looking at around 300g.

If you ordered one or more of these, they will be on the way to you around the middle of next week.  Sorry for the short delay, but I hope you'll think it's worth it.  The guys at MDC have done a great job.

Excellent. I'd be interested to see how other people pait this up. Particularily the notable pro figure painters among us.

This week I've been mostly eating . . . The white ones with the little red flecks in them.

Actually, I'd be particularly interested in seeing how the really untalented amateurs paint it!   :D

Aparently, I'm a little late getting in on this one!  Are they still available?

Also, I know that the idol is from the 1st ed. PH, but does he make any other appearances?

The inside panel of the 1979 DM screens. Cover by Erol Otus and I believe the image that covers the back and inside panel (that includes the idol) was by David A Trampier. I wish I had one to provide a scan.

I'll be getting the first batch of castings on Friday 8th, and I'll be sending those out to international purchasers to make sure they miss the inevitable Christmas rush.  The remainder should be with me by Wednesday 13th, and sent straight out.  I would expect everyone to receive their idol by the end of next week.

Each model will include a pair of red gem eyes as shown in the pic of the painted idol.

And the cover to the new 3.5 edition Player's Handbook II.
Though I add, none of these 3 look anywhere near as cool as your painted sculpture.

Did these get posted out and are in the Christmas post, or are they shipping after Christmas?
