Assuming he's using the same eBay username as here, the bidder's list shows him as the 3rd lowest of 13 bidders.

My apologies - I was assuming that Frank was referring to a high bid of his (which did not show up) not his low bid of $53 and further, that there had been higher bids that had (somehow) been cancelled.

The overall price still seems low(ish), but again, as I mentioned, the condition looks VG(ish).  :flower:

I had been debating going as high as $150-$160 and then selling off the ones I already had (4,5 and 6) but something was telling me to not to go higher.
After hearing about the 2nd chance offer to Frank I am now very glad that I stopped where I did.

If you had asked me to estimate the final price a few days ago, I would have said about that...  maybe up to $180-90  :pig:

It was pretty damned tempting since #2 & #3 don't come up for auction very ofter (first that I have seen so far this year).

Its also possible that the seller doesn't want bids from overseas, or from certain users, or whatnot, so its not impossible that 10 would be denied, though that is a bit high. I know I've been given second chance offers on stuff and it came out well in the end. But, that's me. I wish you luck, if you decide to take it, Frank. If only there were a way to verify this was something fishy, rather than a hunch... evidence isn't weighing in the seller's favor , but for me, the jury is delivering. Oh, wait, sorry. You said you got two offers... one from the second chance, and another from an alleged seller. Yeah, risky.

Contact some of the other bidders and ask if they also got second chance offers?

I have not received a second chance offer on that auction and was in the bidding for most of the week up until the last four hours.
But I am bidding from Canada which can be determined by looking at the recent items I have sold and some auctions that I have that are ending today.

The second chance offer is probably from someone in Nigeria running a scam.  It happens with all of the bigger ticket items.  I think you'd be lucky if you paid and got photocopies but I doubt you would get anything.

W A R N I N G

The auction below, for a call of Cthulhu 20th anniversary ruleset, looks like the limited edition version (i.e. from the individually numbered 300 print run, with the gold star).  I doubt that it is as; (i) these were never sealed in plastic, (ii) his description is lifted straight from the original ad (and probably from Paul's Y-S.com website).

** expired/removed eBay auction **

I thought it particularly worth mentioning, since there is a Ltd Ed. 20th anniversary set (i.e. Gold Star) on ebay at the moment, and some people might be fooled.  I have sent him this message.

"Hi there.  Although your stock photograph makes this look like the very valuable limited edition version of the 20th anniversary ruleset (with the gold star), I assume that this is the less rare version with the red star (and no signatures/stamp/label etc..)?  If so, you may want to amend your description to avoid a disappointed customer.  Regardless, Best of luck with the auction."

Red_bus is right. IIRC the picture in that ad is from a pre-production mock-up that Chaosium published. Note the differences in the embossed square on the cover. The mock-up is just a square, the real deal has small decorative tentacles embossed in the corner of that square. And plastic wrap = unlimited. The limited were wrapped in paper and bound with twine.

The guy has been cool enough to amend his auction now.

Peace and love all round  :flower:

I am sure a few people have seen this one:

Greg Stafford is selling a copy of White Bear & Red Moon.  I wonder if his reserve will be met?  As hot as this game usually is I don't see the point of a reserve.  PDT_Armataz_01_04

Elric boardgame (Avalon Hill):

** expired/removed eBay auction **

How does this boardgame compare to the Chaosium version seen here:

http://www.boardgamegeek.com/image/191923

And Greg Stafford's original here:

http://www.boardgamegeek.com/image/129931

Are these all essentially the same game?

edit:  I seem to have answered my own question.  From looking at ALL of the pictures on the boardgamegeek website it seems that they are all essentially the same game.

Didn't he just win a copy from another seller a few weeks back?
