It's hard to muster any enthusiasm for T&T getting their hands on this ... 600% markup, here we come.

How T&T has any cash sitting around is a complete mystery to me; I've never actually seen them sell anything (at least not on eBay). Their listings for many of the boardgames I track are just a never-ending series of no-sale, relist; no-sale, relist; no-sale relist ...

They paid $150,000 for this guys massive collection. 8O
The seller stated that if the collection was packed right it MIGHT fit into a semi tracter trailor rig...... 8O

TrollandToad.com spokesman Ryan Severin says the acquisition is the largest in the company's 17 years of doing business.
It has 75 employees and had sales of $5 million last year.

According to that article they are making plenty of money.

I agree, with 20,000 games for $150,000 thats an average of $7.50 a game - I'm sure Troll and Toad will be able to sell most of them for more than that.

Not to mention the additional profit to be made through the shipping/handling scam..........

20,000 items times the SH fees will be HUGE.

Fair value? Same as it's been for the past few years: $20-25 (OK, maybe $40 for a really nice copy at a push), per http://www.dragonsfoot.org/forums/viewt ... 30&#395030 : there's a better copy on the previous page and I've picked up others in passing. They are not "ultra-rare".

Check out the same 914 rated bidder on http://offer.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0237888720 for another example of "interesting bidding" and stand well clear of any auction they're on, since the price is likely to be way OTT. ;)

aside: There was a minty-looking UK SGL 1st Deathtrap Equaliser (= rare in that condition) with other misc. T&T which picked up a single bid at $20 a couple days ago. I wasn't sure it would even get that minimum bid, to be honest.

02c, anyhow :)

So after reading the Dragonsfoot Forum you linked to and other posts about the Buffalo Castle book, I am still a bit in the dark as to the upper price one might be willing to pay if he finds one of these in Very Good Condition.

I have been sent an offer to buy a copy of Buffalo Castle that looks to be in even better condition than the one in that E-Bay listing. (I have a picture of the front cover and have asked for the copyright page and rear cover (just to see if it has any stains, etc.).

I would like to buy his book, but I do not wish to rip the seller or myself off. I am willing to pay a fair price, just not $200 plus plus plus !!

I would post the pic if I had an On-Line Hosting place to stick it.

Yup, I agree a nice idea there. They should sell pretty well.

Looks familiar.  Didn't you sell one of those about a year ago, Frank, or was it something with a similar cover?

I think Frank sold this one and a copy of Mindbane (another Australia modules which I think is even harder to find than Bad Moon).

I definitely sold Mindbane. I think I sold Bad Moon too. Gets hard to remember.......
I dispute his claim about the 8 years without a Bad Moon, of course. I've seen a couple copies. It IS rare, but not overly so IIRC. I may even have another copy.
I think part of the reason it is "rare" is the fact that it was an Aussie tourney mod. Unlike Inverness/Tsoj/Tamo, though, it is a booklet, so the vast majority of the ones that were printed for the con would have survived for at least a while.
Lance will surely end up with this one. I think the seller would have been much better served to start it at less than $100, though. I do not recall much at all about the mod, which means it was substandard at best.

I thought Lance got the one you sold, but maybe it was the other title.  Wasn't that about the time Lance first popped up around here?

Lance probably got both.
I do remember that I liked Mindbane.

The seller would have been much better served if he's allowed international bidders.

This week I've been mostly eating . . . The white ones with the little red flecks in them.

Yes, it is not as rare as Mindbane.  I have seen 5 or 6 Bad Moon's change hands in the past few years and only 2 Mindbanes (your copy and one I got from Brett).  I think Lance picked up both of the ones you sold.

You only see someone mention this when it's a U.S.A. auction
