It was losing a bid for that last summer which got me into collecting RQ. Now I have everything published before the boxed sets.

Ooooh.  It has the dust-jacket.

Most of the ones I've seen lately have been missing that.

Yet another 1st ed. RQ book. Has the sale of the first ever copy started a flood? I was content with a NM 2nd ed. bought from bclarkie, but maybe I'll actually end up owning one of these as well. Gotta love those 70s sepia tones.

Here is another one in the US:

Are the 4 CDM sets particularly valuable? Or quite common?

I think I would say that the CDM sets are uncommon to rare.  By no means are they always up but a number do show up every year.  CDM 2 is probably the rarest and I would classify it as rare.

As I think I've said a number of times, these boxed set were also later made into the Doomstones books for Warhammer.  They are also very nice nonTSR items - good ideas, good adventures, etc.

As far as pricing goes, I would say CDM 5 is most valuable then CDM 2.  The other 3 go for less.  They often go unnoticed so their price can be cheap.

For anyone interested in the story of how the CDM series later became published by Games Workshop for Warhammer and what the changes were, here is an article from Warpstone:

I've always wanted one of these "Worlds of Wonder" boxed Set. I would have bid but got no reply from the Seller on international shipping.

It's an interesting attempt at an early generic system, but I don't think I'd ever actually play the rules.

Just about every one of the setting books you can't help but look at and think "This is just a less impressive version of _______."  Though in the case of Superworld, it's "This is just a less impressive version of the later Superworld box." ;)

The cover art certainly gives the impression of a different game than the English stuff. :)
