Do you guys think $9.30 is to much to ship these items:

** expired/removed eBay auction **

** expired/removed eBay auction **

I went to USPS website and it said 1 pound would cost $3.95

I can't imagine these being more than a pound in weight :?

I would guess they're planning to send it Global Priority, which would run about that amount.

By the way, nice win on the gold-plated wizard.

If $9.30 is the actually shipping charge then that does seem rather high for Letter Post shipping but about right for global priority.

If the $9.30 includes the shipping and handling then it sounds about right because your seller charges a $2 handling fee per auction so you got dinged for $4 (I despise sellers who do this because it is an obvious attempt to cover their listing fees - tony ass wap shop is infamous for doing this).  This may even be a violation of Ebay policy but good luck in getting them to do anything about it.

In any case, after handling, your shipping is only $5.30 so $3.95 + $1 for an envelope you are definitely in the ballpark.

Off-topic, but I have been wondering for the past few weeks if electroplating old lead minis could be done easily and cheaply.  I can't sculpt to save my life, and I would probably burn my house down if I tried to do any casting.  But electroplating sounds simple and easy and a fun way to "paint" old Grenadier and Ral Partha minis.

Anybody have any electroplating experience in general and with small lead/pewter objects in particular?

As far as postage goes . . . overseas postage is always a mystery to me.  Domestic US postage is confusing enough; I try use US Media Mail and Flat-Rate Priority Envelopes and Boxes whenever possible.

The Battlesystems miniatures may be adding a little weight, and the mailing box and packing material may be adding more weight than you think.  You may also have gotten dinged for a couple of bucks in handling fees.

Very nice win on the gold plated wizard.  I didn't know RP made them like Grenadier did with gold plated promos.  I'll have to add this to my watch list now.... I'm sure the next one will go for a lot more than $26.

They were given to the initial members of the Ral Partha Miniatures club way back in the 80's.  This club was like a subscription service for there catalogs; it was also to include special club only stuff (like this miniature). Unfortunatly the club nver got going, the lazy potheads at Ral Partha just failed to keep it consistent and it died a quick death.  Many of the subscribers never even got the limited gold mini.

That's what I was told on the miniatures page anyway.
