I'm trying to verify the existence and composition of a SECOND Kali. I'll post more when I find out more..............

Hmm. Very interesting. Would like to update Afterglow2 if that's the case.

This week I've been mostly eating . . . The white ones with the little red flecks in them.

Did the copy that's up for auction once belong to a guy who goes by the handle 'bobrunnicles'?

I have no idea. I honestly can't remember when I got it, but it was at least 5 years ago I think. I got it because I liked the cover art, reminded me a bit of the Artist Formerly Known As Morno. Then when I researched it, no one seemed to know anything about it.
The name bobrunnicles DOES seem vaguely familiar. Did he have a copy?

I should add that the person who contacted me about another Kali is a solid Acaeum member. Must have missed the past posts and inquiries.

In August 2005, there was a post made on rpg.net that mentions Kalifax being in his collection.

Yup, there it is!
I wonder why a Google search never picked that up?

Can we get confirmation that the cover is the same? Is it the same publication, or a final print? Your copy of Kalifax would appear to be the pre-pub from the blurb. And Bob's would make three? That's still stupidly rare in my book.

I was hoping for a description or scan from the person who said he had one.
As dumb as it sounds, I'd be VERY glad if it wasn't unique. It would make it way too vulnerable to vanishing into a closet collection, or "gasp" destruction in one way or another.
I'd have to confirm that bobruns or whatever his name is actually still has his. I can personally attest to having THOUGHT I still had an item, according to my lists, only to find it was traded away and my lists were never updated.
Whether there are 2 or 3, it is still rarer than any other item, TSR or non-TSR, that I can think of. The best part is that it isn't one of those useless items like Jade Hare or ST1.

What's the betting Mark and Stephen slog it out for Kalifax, and Mike or Bill fire in a last minute snipe and take the prize?

<EDIT> Nice one, Mark. A real gem.

Wow! Thanks for the bidding, guys. I'm really glad it went to a true collector. Money is never the issue (though it doesn't hurt).
Gonna hurt a bit to see it go. I'm tempted to drive the freaking thing to Canada myself just to be 100% sure it gets there OK.
If the other owner of a Kali wants to chip in his thoughts, that would be great. I can't reveal a name without explicit permission, to me that would be unethical, and there are certain circumstances involved. And I don't want to post the info I was sent, since it is secondhand, and that kind of info is what started the whole PoVQ black folder issue that I argued about for 10,000 years.
I'll throw up some more goodies (along with a VERY special one) either tonight or tomorrow.

Well, super win, Mark.     It was a good fight.

And great sale, Frank.  Congratulations to both of you.

I'm glad to have won it!  Although I thought Ian would be in it at the end.  I think this is my most expensive purchase too (by about $120).  I flip-flopped on the price a few times too and only won by less than $1.50.  Still excited though!

deadlord was referring to me. i sent him an email saying that my g.m. & i both bought a copy of kalifax at gencon. they are copyright 1994. the cover is the same as the scan frank posted, but honestly i have never looked at the interior contents. my wife & me are buying a new house in 6 days, then we`re having bookshelves built after which i will be able to start opening up all my boxes of frp, start sorting through stuff and finally start answering peoples` questions (like this one). please be patient with me :-)

There you go! I hope you don't feel I put you under the gun, Bill. If so, I apologize.

Makes up for the Necromican somewhat.
(Better class of seller, too... ;))

Congrats. ^^

(Glad I didn't get into a fight over that one! :))

Someone help me here.  I watched the auction unaware that Deadlord was the seller....I put it on my watch list to see the fireworks.

If Kalifax is a unique item, doesn't that pretty much make it just someone's dungeon with a slightly nicer cover?

I have a pre-pub item from a nascent company called Master Gamer's Guild, from back in the early 80's.  I doubt it ever saw publication in more than two or three copies.  Is that valuable?
