Not that I am complaining . . . but how come I sold these two items for so much?

Vilani & Vargr and Solomani & Aslan

Luckily, I had noticed one that sold for around $50.00 before I listed them, so I threw out a BIN of $49.99.  But the one that went the full auction duration has something like 14 watchers by the end . . .

Are they just sort of "rare" items or in demand for their high quality?

They are quite uncommon, but I tend to find quality items from sellers that have a good reputation go for lots more than a quality item from less well know sellers... thats why the burnt brothers auctions go for well above market value in some cases

I would assume that most of the Digest Group publications for Traveller are rarer than the GDW publications simply because I am always looking for Traveller items and I very rarely see them.  However, the alien supplements for MegaTraveller show up quite often.  I just got outbid on these two Digest Group items for the original Traveller:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 8801964167

I thought I had put in some pretty safe proxy bids.  Guess not... :cry:   However I have noticed that even the more common GDW items have been doing fairly well of late.  I dont think I am ever going to get a copy of Signal GK or Merchant Prince.  The last few I saw went for over $40.  8O

This message from the Traveller Mailing List should explain why Digest Group stuff is so popular.

Roger bought DGP off Joe Fugate (IIRC) who did a lot of the work for
GDWs' MT publications in addition to the DGP material. This happened
after DGP withdrew from the Traveller market when TNE was published.

At this present moment, several list members are owed money by DGP
for material printed and sold years ago. Roger has started many
projects for RPGs since he bought DGP, none of which have come to
fruition.

His dispute with MM relates to the ownership of the DGP material.
Although RS owns the copyright of the text for the DGP material he
cannot publish without MM's permission. RS wants a lot of money for
the DGP material. As a result, it is legally dubious to use DGP
material as a basis for current Traveller material and both T4 and GT
avoided reusing it by working around it. As a result, some of the
best Traveller material is being overwritten and is condemned to
being rare collector's items.

Other people who were on the list earlier than me may have a better
description, as mine is not first hand, only the story as I have been
told.

DGP = Digest Group Publications
RS = Roger Sanger
MM = Marc W. Miller
MT = MegaTraveller
T4 = Traveller 4th Edition
GT = GURPS Traveller

By the way, the amount of money was $100,000.

In the case of Adventure 13: SignalGK and Book 7: Merchant Prince, both of those had small print runs (@13,000 and 17,000 respectively) compared to books like Book 4: Mercenary (@124,000 copies) and Book 5: High Guard (@115,000 copies).  The small print runs, the subject matter, and the huge demand are the reasons for the prices.

I think I got lucky on this one:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... %3AIT&rd=1

I have only seen it on Ebay once or twice before.  Titan Games had one and wanted $50 for it IIRC.  I sat on this thing for 6 days and only one other person bid in the last 30 seconds which is kind of surprising.

Well, two things happened there.

1. He didn't hype the fact it was a DGP MegaTraveller item.

2. He set the price too high and scared off bidders.  He knew the value of the book and made sure he got it.

How much Digest Group stuff is there?  Does anyone have a product list (or a link to one) ?

I think there is a complete list of items here (at least for Traveller):

http://www.travellerbibliography.org/index.html

The contents are broken down by the version of the game (Classic, Mega, New Era, etc.).  And everything is in alphabetical order.

Here is another Digest Group item for Traveller.  The Early Adventures.

Didnt expect it to go quite this high but I am not surprised as it is the first time I have seen it up on Ebay.

I just acquired 101 Vehicles and the Starship Operator's Manual . . . any thoughts as to the value of these two?

101 Vehicles is pretty common.  You can pick it up from Noble Knight for $14.99 (I think).  It usually goes for less than $20 on Ebay.  Starship Ops Manual seems to be fairly rare.  I have seen it go for over $30.

The 101 Robots that was listed in the interesting items thread finished:

About what I expected it to go for considering the condition.

Is Mega Traveller Subsidized Merchant worth anything?  Published by Imperial Design or seeker game systems?

Games can get you through times of no money but money can not get you through times of no games!!

It's worth something...but I dont have an exact amount in mind.  :wink:   Seriously though...I have never been interested in purchasing deck plans for any iteration of Traveller but I see them on Ebay all the time.  There always seems to be quite a lot of bidders on the Traveller deck plans regardless of which ones.  I have only seen deck plans for MegaTraveller a handful of times so I would expect you would probably get considerably more for them than you would the original Traveller deck plans.

For some reason I seem to recall deck plans for the subsidized merchant being available in Supplement 7: Traders and Gunboats along with Type S scouts, X-boats, and a few other ships.  My memory could be foggy, as I don't have Supplement 7 in my bookshelf at this moment.

Your memory is working just fine.  All of the deck plans you mentioned are in Supplement 7.

Glad to know something's working right. ;)

That one Supplement was reason enough for me never to bother with any deck plans produced for subsequent editions of Traveller.  It had the essential ships, and that was quite enough.
