A Beholder right when you enter, yeah that is a high level dungeon.
I much prefer that one over the knight.

SO now the question, they ever get used since you've had them?

Yeah, the only thing lacking is a bikini-clad woman atop those towels!

Those towels are super-cool now ... back in the day, though, I would have been terrified of taking one to the beach. I went to a pretty clique-y high school ... the sort of place where one could find one's ass kicked for bringing a D&D towel out into the open.

I sort of want one now, though ... it would make my wife roll her eyes like this:

I confess, I was the buyer of the ones in the Sutherland auction.

Which one?

Those are two different ones. Not a front and back.

Oh, I see that now, know wonder I'm always at the back of the party.

The dungeon one is great I have to hunt one of those down.  8) How often do these show up on ebay?

Not that often I think. Although I do not have a search set up for them, I tend to look for other stuff.

-Shane, nope I have never used them. I washed and dried them when I first received them, thats it.

Yeah, the only thing lacking is a bikini-clad woman atop those towels!

-Mark, I couldn't talk the wife into it  :(

it would make my wife roll her eyes like this:

-X, that was my wifes reply -

-Frank, were they the same as these? Do you know of any others?

How often do these show up on ebay?

-Ekim, not very often. At least I havent seen any lately. I believe I was moving during the Sutherland ones.

I tend to look for other stuff.

-red_bus, did you get my reply PM?

Thanks for all the comments,
Mike

I think there were four.

Mine via DCS are the blue dragon (pictured above) and the purple worm (each with combatant humanoids). I wish I had the dungeon, it's fairly cool.

{edit}

I don't recall what the fourth design might have been, tho.

From the Sutherland auction, showing the purple worm:

I just picked up 2 copies of this book from my local used book store - how they got them I do not know.  They are however missing the spinner.  Anyone have a copy with the spinner?  I would be interested in seeing it.

It includes lots of fun games like Venger's Castle, Venger's Enchanted Steps, Warduke (kindof a put together the body pieces to make Warduke game), Excape from Venger's Dungeon and more!

I also have the D&D cross stitch kits.  Here is a link to the pictures over on Dragonsfoot:

http://www.dragonsfoot.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=18844

Any idea who thought these up?  Was it a hobby of the wives of TSR employees?  The packages also state that Greenfield Needlewomen is a subsidiary of TSR Hobbies, Inc.  They are copyright 1983.  I checked the 1983 TSR catalog and they mention them in their expanding line of merchandise but don't say much else.

http://www.atlasofadventure.com/Archive ... erview.asp

the Blumes had acquired, without approval of the Board of Directors, a craft company called Greenfield Needlewomen. This company was owned by one of their relatives. While military/fantasy miniatures might be successfully integrated into a game publishing company, a line of needlecraft and associated products certainly could not.

I also made a few comments about it over on my Q&A thread at DF.
