Where had the cover been posted before, or is it just the artist/style that's familiar?

For some maybe..

I don't think its been posted before.. I know Bill spoke about it in a previous thread (if he could work out how to do it;)

I'm out on your.. unless Google give me the answer..

well the only thing that i remember writing about that fits your parameters is "in search of santa's sack" from 1981. but assuming that's not correct, i'll guess Kree Mountain

I did give out a couple more hints;) (I agree Frank it is very Russ Nicholson)

Based on the convention scenario/campaign  of the same name by Mark Morrison,
Penelope Love et al. Gruesomely illustrated by Brad Ellis.

"Way back then in the RQ2 glory days Chaosium commissioned the authors to
create a 3 box set of adventures based on what they saw here, it's that
good. Can a motley band of Sartarites stop the Lunar invasion and find a
traitor in their midst?  Very few copies of this were ever printed, and you had to
be at Arcanacon II (1984) to buy it. First and only edition, 48 pages."

Bill you are out on this one..

An easier one.. rpg rules printed in the USA but with a setting in the British Isles.. "If your looking for a 'role playing game' with more realism without burying you in charts, you've finally found it!"...  Its "different from anything you have ever seen!" (Don't you love it when they say things like that...)

I've never heard of Kree Mountain but I don't really collect RQ.  I do have some of the other Arcanacon & Phantasacon items.

The latest entry is probably only a rarity 4 or 5 so easy to guess :)

That's a significant part of the appeal RPGs have, like ministers of competing churches - each is the only path to salvation. Each is a re-creation of the universe, with its author claiming godhood & the right to re-invent the laws of physics as each sees fit. So in a sense this guy is right, his is the only correct understanding of his own inner world. From there we proceed to the implications, the personality suggested by the worldview. Dick's Eye in the Sky is a good comparison.

I saw this cover recently but can't remember the name. Perhaps it was for sale on NKG?

I draw the line at collecting... D&D beach towels.

Shoulda been: ".. from Pangreenia to Floratopolis, from mystical Treeonia of spectral Forests to Schruborial dimensions." - The Forests of Leng
