Could be Morno for the artist?

Boy, it really looks familiar, but I can't place what it was in.

I'd say Otus but it'd be really an easy answer (and that's why it wont be correct...)

In what TSR product was this printed?
And who's the artist?

My guess on the artist is Hannon. Not sure where it was printed. One of the Dragon issues around #15?

OK, received this in the mail a little while ago... the postman was nice enough not to bend it as requested

It arrived however with the big square section ripped off - it must have stuck to something.  Thankfully, the book was wrapped in plastic :)  Here's hint # 1:

I draw the line at collecting... D&D beach towels.

Shoulda been: ".. from Pangreenia to Floratopolis, from mystical Treeonia of spectral Forests to Schruborial dimensions." - The Forests of Leng

We believe that this is an early Dave Trampier.
The question is still: "In what TSR publication is it found?"

I was going to say Australian G1 -- right color, but that visible squiggle isn't on the front cover of G1.  Maybe on the back.

That's definitely a Necromican.  Better challenge is to spell the title properly (yes, I looked it up after spelling it incorrectly as well) or guess how the damage was caused.

It almost looks like there was a shipping statement on the envelope that got ripped off.

It doesn't help that Lovecraft uses "Necronomican" and FAE uses "Necromican".

723 williams was the early store for the MOHS.. The Dragon seems to easy.. and since Dave created the Shlump Da Orcas his alter ego editor of The Stretegic Preview.. I'm going to say Its the Stragegic Preview #6 (since its obscure enough that not many people have .. and the fact that you mention it here.. Obscure Collecting Knowledge)

Brette:)
