I'm on my hols at the moment in the US, but upon my return to the UK this weekend I have a problem I really hope I can sort out...

Mildew on one of my Talisman boards :-(.

I've thought about spraying a cloth with Oxy-stuff then wiping it over but wanted to check if anyone else has any ideas first. (I've heard bleach is good for removing mildew.. but I don't see that being healthy to the board...)

Any ideas on how I can remove this pest or should I just consign this one to the trash? I can't think how it's picked up the mildew because my other stuff all seems to be ok but the board games were stored elsewhere at one point.

Thanks for any ideas.

How extensive is the mildew, and on what side of the board is it growing?

(1) I have microwaved softcover RPG books for a few seconds to reduce or eliminate the mildew smell.  The books were in rough shape anyway, so I had nothing to lose.  Maybe if nothing else sounds reasonable you could try the microwave.

(2) Could you make a color photocopy/laserprint of the mapboard and use it as a replacement?

Thanks for the tips. It's not a complete disaster if it can't be saved because I know I have another board, just a sad one & one I want to prevent from occuring again in my collection. I'll let you know what happens when I get back to the UK if any of the methods seem to work. :)

I have a feeling it may have happened when I left it at one of my friends houses in error & their parents moved, taking the board games with them & was put in storage (heh, I was glad to have them back after 6 years because I had thought they were gone for good).
