Not a silly price, but I thunk people might like the description of the World Atlas.

Shill. The guy is brand new, and bidding stupidly on 3 MERP items by the same seller.

So how effective are cross-promotions?

Heh.  Reminds me of a seller I bought from a while back who used to put some of her items with multiple copies up in both BIN and auction formats.  I'd always be amazed at people who'd bid up an item to a price that was significantly over what the same seller was asking for another copy in their store.

With all due respect to Tunnels & Trolls  -- what's going on with this auction?

Three of these six books are still available from Flying Buffalo.  That leaves Dungeon of the Bear 1, Grimtooth's Traps 1 and Deathtrap Equalizer Dungeon.  How much are they worth separately?  I'd have thought about $10 each. 8O

Have no idea, I know that the winning bidder runs the Hobit Hole site and Outlaw Press. He prints T&T stuff (I'm unsure if he actually does this legally? Does anyone know?) I have bought some zines off him that he writes..

The black box is the rarest T&T box. I saw it rarely on ebay and this one is the first one I see in so excellent condition. I guess it is why they bid so much...

I have a black box set too -- I think I picked it up on eBay for $10 three or four years ago, so I never thought of it as a rarity.  Obviously the shallow full-colour boxes are easier to get nowadays, and it looks like even the Fiery Dragon 7th edition tin boxes are coming down in price.

Thanks for the link to Outlaw Press, Brette.  Those new adventures look interesting -- I'm going to have to check them out.

Nice,

You don't fancy keeping some and selling some to even out your costs do you? Totally missed these - how come you never posted to the Interesting Items thread?

Nice one Red_bus, I think I have only seen one of these come up for auction in the last year or so and it also went for big $$$.

Do you know what the size of the print run was on those?

If you are a fan of the Dennis Detwiller artwork, he has a print on demand collection that you can buy through his web site.

I could possibly be tempted to break it up - or trade some/all for a copy of Courting Madness (if anyone here is interested)  :D

I think that you might see these up again, even if only 250 were produced, it wasn't that long ago - and I am not sure how many were bought originally.  I wonder also if this set might be slightly different from the one Grodog bought a year ago (almost exactly if I recall)... ???

A. Scott Glancy had mentioned in one of the DG threads on Yog-Sothoth that after Gencon he was going to post what he had left for sale.

He apparently had found a box of some of the out-of-print stuff and was going to try to sell it at Gencon and anything left he would put up for sale.

I PM'd him last week reminding him to post the info but have not seen him do so yet.

I haven't heard back either, but I picked up the two true first/pre-pub TUO#1s there.  I didn't see anything else at the booth that looked rare.  The edition was signed/numbered @ 250, but Tynes told me that the stock that he had left when I bought my old TUOs from him c. 1993 was damaged/incomplete/water stained, so there's likely far fewer than 250 out there (he had said that they never sold well).

Dennis Detwiller does have an art book that he's doing now, IIRC from his blog; it may contain the two images that he did in the set.  (Steven, I think our sets are identical, though I'll have to go check to confirm).

(PS - I'm also looking for Courting Madness too :D ).
