Did crazyegor blow a gasket?  I know these dont normally go for small change but that starting price is just a bit on the "what the hell is he thinking?" side of things.

well he's a businessman - he thinks he can get that for it, so why not?

seems pretty OTT for that though if you ask me, but hey i havent got one anyway so what do i know :D

I suspect that he might get his asking price.

Actually, referring to the brief discussion on the 'interesting items' thread on how expensive Amazon is for RPGs, check this out:

** expired/removed eBay auction **

Two guys have been going head to head on any FASA Dr.Who stuff listed on Australia Ebay. The book 'The Hartlewick Horror' went for over $42 on ebay, yet is available second hand on Amazon for $15. I still think when buying, it is important to check all possible purchasing sources.

Mike, I could trade you one of these, if you're OK with a slightly torn cover?  I'm still looking for Bio One and some other early non-D&D TSR titles....

Check out Chaosium's website.  They are issuing special editions of some classic Call of Cthulhu publications, and some of you might be interested.

If you purchase from their website rather than a retailer, beware that their estimated shipping times are usually 'optimistic'.

I purchased their hardcover release of Beyond the Mountains of Madness to run as a campaign for some friends this winter. My purchase date was September the 13th and after nagging them with a few email I received a message from Fergie the Shipping Shoggoth on November 1st that he had just packed my order and it would be shipped on the 2nd.

Today is the 8th and I am still eagerly awaiting its arrival. (Always delays on items crossing the Canada/US border).

The only item I have ordered directly from Chaosium took two months and two lost orders to get.

No harm done...it's only paper.

They tossed in a couple of T-shirts by way of apology.  I have an Arkham Fire Department T-shirt hanging in my closet....too small for me and too cool to give to the kids.

I get the idea that Chaosium is as fallible as anyone else in gaming.

Crikey!  Troll & Toad has outdone themselves!  A $13,987.49 BIN on a SINGLE MTG card...

** expired/removed eBay auction **

That makes a $2,060.05 Tsojonth seem like a real bargin.

I know nothing about MTG but doing a quick comparison search turns up

$99 BIN

** expired/removed eBay auction **

4 for $49.95

** expired/removed eBay auction **

Another set of 4 for $49.95

Big difference between the Arabian Nights ones and the Summer Magic one. That one is quite rare. Not nearly worth $13K though.

Just curious, but how the hell can you tell the difference? I looked at the two individual cards side by side for like 5 minutes and could not make out one single difference. :?

One has white border (T&T's) the others have the black border

My favorite T&T listing is for an item that I've seen some sellers throw in for free with larger lots:

Entry-level Cosmic Encounter

Where they get the idea that someone would be enough of a brain-donor to pay $134 for a common, not-even-that-good item ... well, I don't know. Maybe from their butts.

Right.    These types of listings are the precise reason why TrollandToadstore and their bidding ID Renvohek are forever blocked from my auctions. I don't believe in taking advantage of anyone even if they would be dumb enough to pay over $13,000 for a freaking game card. That is downright criminal.

Heh, thats what is huh.  How the hell can you really tell though as you could very easily clip the scan of it to look like that and the listing itself doesnt even reference a difference as to whtehr or not it is the supposed more rare one.  Either way though, for over $13k, that mother f***er better be made of real platinum and diamonds for it to come to be anywhere close to that value, I don't care how "rare" it is.

Brian, all (well most) Magic cards have a small symbol to the bottom right of the picture. That typically tells what set it is from. the Summer Magic one has no symbol; the Arabian one has a scimitar.
The cards can indeed be counterfeited. I saw some very good fakes back when I collected them.

If that one sells for over $13 I might just try to start printing them myself. I mean Christ it has to be cheaper than $13k right.  :?

IIRC mine sold for $500 years ago, and that was quite high.
