Seriously? Countdown is still so high priced?

Not consistently, but there are spikes toward $200.

Given that there are two printings, and thus 6000 copies out there, this one is ALL reputation.  Not unjustified, but still, that's a lot for something that most people (I think) want to use, not so much collect.  The (illegal) scan out there is pretty low quality, so that doesn't lower the price much.

Again, Goodwill's price is nuts there, but I was just noting that we've seen worse, on a percentage basis anyway.

Not sure if these are silly, but I was shocked to see Stormbringer 2E sets bidding this high:

Neither has dice, and the first one doesn't seem to have the character/reference sheets.

Then I looked further... same two bidders on each one... that's weird.  Why would you go after both copies?

Well, if they're anything like me, I like multiple copies if I plan on running the game.  I like redundancy and not having to pass a single book around when a player has to look up a spell or something.

That's what photocopying and .pdf's are for.  Those prices dont make any sense whatsoever.

You could get it for around $20 if you haunt eBay for awhile
:)

Games can get you through times of no money but money can not get you through times of no games!!

Agreed.  I'd say the normal range is $20-40.

Not a silly price, but rather a humorous description:

First of all, I'm pretty sure the fair was in 1893. I don't think I've ever seen a D&D miniature mistaken for a World's Fair souvenir before, much less a likeness of Christopher Columbus. I've already contacted the seller to let her know what she really has (a Heritage Dungeon Dwellers female cleric), but in hindsight, maybe I should have waited. If a bidding war erupted, I know where to get many more copies of Mr. Columbus ;)

Damn that's funny. They just have no clue.  Now pardon me, I have to put up a bunch of genuine 10th century lead souvenirs from the viking invasions of England.

Sure Martin, they look a lot like old Grenadier, Heritage and Ral Partha minis, but don't be fooled!

I did have a follow up, I sent the seller a message, she sent this back to me:

Dear badmike3books,

Hi
Thank you..I tried to tell my husband but he knew for sure..I am taking it down and listing something else..I appreciate you letting me know..Is it a collectable item..?..Thank you Anne

- anneb7707

Sure, blame the husband!  But seriously....where did he even get this info?  Does anyone have a picture of a Christopher Columbus miniature sold at the Chicago World's Fair? Anyway the relisting has it as a "1970's Christopher Columbus", at least that's a lot closer to the reality.

Husbands always get thrown under the bus! Even though I provided them an exact description (and link) to their "Columbus" miniature, you're right, it's still Christopher Columbus in the relist. Savvy marketing, no doubt.
