I think it is just a seasonal price spike.  :D

This seems pretty reasonable:

http://cgi.ebay.com/GDW-FIFTH-FRONTIER- ... dZViewItem

This on the other hand...does not:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Traveller-Fifth-Fro ... dZViewItem

With the exceptions of the box in the first auction looking a little more worn than the second and the counters being punched they both look very good.  Kinda hard for me to understand how that justifies a $70 price difference.  :?

I would say that Wolfdragoon needs to learn how to snipe.  He bid himself up to the ceiling and probably could have paid less than 25% of what he did pay.

I would say Wolf_dragoon has been seriously ripped off.
Mickpumango is a seller that has been inactive for 6 months and was created only to by from a single seller, and Wanda55555 was created on the very day the auction closed. Lets of shill bidding going on there and either a really stupid dutchmen or another shill account to boot.

This week I've been mostly eating . . . The white ones with the little red flecks in them.

Aaaargh I hate to come to defense of a friend here....

Honestly, I think it's a coincidence. :)

Wanda55555 also bought this the same day:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 4395502847

it could be she/he is just a new ebay buyer.

And mickpumango has bid and won other Battletech stuff.

Me and Blackmoor do know the seller Jeff. He doesn't strike us a chili-pepper wallpaper-guy  nor a shill bidder.

And he was employed by Partha and later Wiz-kids and has been selling heaps of this kind of stuff out of his basement for a while now.

But hey,  who knows. We've misjudged people before :)

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LOTR-Tolkien-MITH ... dZViewItem

its funny that these will rise to these kinda prices and this one is rock bottom, and imo, looks way better:

eBay listings

This guy is being waaaayy too optimistic. Has some decent MERP items but 50% of his starting prices and BIN's are absolutely ridiculous. Not to mention he is selling out of The Netherlands and only accepts paypal.

http://cgi.ebay.com/MERP-Gates-of-Mordo ... dZViewItem

I just won one of these in better shape for about $20 a few weeks ago.

http://cgi.ebay.com/MERP-Pirates-of-Pel ... dZViewItem

and:

http://cgi.ebay.com/MERP-Teeth-of-Mordo ... dZViewItem

8O 8O 8O ..... I have never seen either one of these come anywhere close to the prices this person is wanting. :?

Two crazy prices, IMO, from the land of poorly-stored items.

Late print Ringbearer

$119; http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 8766546309

Brian; what gives? There were several of those rolling through at $15-30 a couple of years ago: just because a few people want it doesn't mean it's actually "rare".

S.E.L.W.G. Middle Earth Wargames Rules

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 8766674758

$99 with <5 hours to go 8O

Again, the "usual" price range was $15-30, with a few peaking higher.

It's not that "rare"; copies used to regularly turn up second-hand in Edinburgh and it's seen on eBay fairly often.

BanzaiCrack always has stupid prices for his MERP stuff. That's what happens when you allow citizens to do drugs publicly. Although I am somewhat envious.....

Not Brian's fault.... he was doing my bidding at the time. I went over the top on my bid (or so I thought) hoping to snare it. I expected the final price to be around $50 or so, and bid higher to ensure the win.

I did have my reasons - the green cover is rarer than some others, and it would have come in handy as trade ammunition with a deal I'm trying to work out with Mkman - he has numerous Ringbearers but not a green one apparently. I was going to tempt him with that edition against a more common Ringbearer plus another Little Soldier book.... unfortunately Lofenloc wanted it more than I.

Don't know what happened to SELWG though... I paid $6 for a copy of that last year sometime. $100 is just crazy.

Regards

Mike

Thanks for the note, Mike. That explains a thing or two :)

Just a bit higher! And still no win... :o

You could have bid direct, if you'd wished.

Hmm... from those I'd seen on eBay before, I thought that ("corrugated" olive cover) was the most common print of Ringbearer, followed by the earlier regular green print.
Was regularly trying to out-lowball Christophe on copies of both of those that turned up.

Would be surprised if Mike has a spare yellow cover!
The realisation for that was stated to be much higher at auction (per his and Frank's posts on the GenCon auction forum) vs. those later copies on eBay.

$6 is "fairly good", I think ;)

I myself have never seen one go for that much but it usually goes for about $100 normally and this one is (sort of) shrinkwrapped.  But the seller is obviously a bit out of his gourd if he thinks that someone is going to plop down $200 for the book and then pay $8 for priority mail plus another $5 for insurance.  8O

I've been watching the barents1234 auctions close all day.  Did Cthulhu awaken and I wasn't told?
