"Casts Rise Dead on this thread"

Anyone got any idea on the going rate on Starstone at the moment - I'm considering getting shot of one in my vain attempt to thin the collection - sigh!

£40-50 for a reasonable condition copy. £60+ if the newbies fight over it.

This week I've been mostly eating . . . chicken and wild rice soup.

gotta say i dont remember one selling for this much, but then i havent been as attentive as i would on other items. have defo seen it rise about £30 for sure, but have also seen it sell in the £20s a few times, but then it could be quite conceivable that condition had something to say about the final price there.

The link is dead 'cos it was originally posted in 2003.
I've sold three copies over the last four years. The first two went for £40 each on BIN. The last copy went for £48 at auction.

I think if you listed it as a BIN and waited you could get this but in an open auction its a bit of a toss up.  A little while back their was some excitement (from the Acaeum buzz I think) and I think one sold for over $200 and then the next couple dropped in at $100.  I think that most collectors have a copy of this one now so a lot of us are not in th bidding anymore.  I would personally guess that the floor on this is about $50 or $60 if it is in good shape.

I'm in the market for an EX/NM copy, and I'd go beyond US$120(£60) for a really sweet copy at the drop of a hat. I don't have a copy ATM.

As I remember the one I'm going to sell (probably) is in pretty decent condition. IIRC though I think that the maps on these are a bit oversize so don't fit very well inside (I could be dreaming this!).

All things being equal I'll list it next week, or tomorrow if I'm really organised.

I'll be a bit sad to sell it, but it goes on the same list as the Imagine mags - love them but do I really need to hoard them?

I haven't heard back from Paul Vernon recently re: reprinting the book, so who knows if that's ever going to happen (not that any of you who were holding your breaths are still alive to read this anyway   ) :D

Now that's the whole point of PDFs. You don't need to have bookshelves and you don't need to wear white gloves to read through the gems in your collection. They are there for ever and in the same condition, provided you make regular backups 'cos CDs don't last for ever. I have a bookcase full of pre-1990 D&D but it's just as quick to look at the PDF on my HD as it is to pull the book from the shelp and debag it.

I seem to recall (from some past message) that Paul was hoarding original copies?  Does that sound familiar or am I confusing this with ST1 or something?

IIRC he said he had a box of original copies, but I've never seen them appear, so I assume that they're still sitting in his attic/garage/basement/parents' basement/etc.

To my unending joy this has now been bid to OVER the BIN that I set at the beginning of the auction 8O (So how on earth does that happen then?)

Once someone bids the BIN is gone unless you have a reserve set up.
