You, me, and Badmike need to pool our resources and open a comic book store.  :D I've only got 6 long boxes but I have over 70 mid-size boxes plus two large bookshelves filled with trade paperbacks and graphic novels. I can only guess at how much Badmike has. I got to see a tenth of his comics in a storage shed and that was quite a bit.

I just did a new inventory, up to 70 longboxes of just regular stuff; another 10 or so longboxes of stuff I want to sell, and the more valuable stuff in special storage containers.  If I ever get my S.. together, I'll start listing comics on Ebay along with games but for right now RPGs are keeping me quite busy. Problem is I've never got rid of anything and now it's biting me on the ass; I mean, I can see having an almost complete collection of Amazing Spiderman; but I have junk like Arak Son of Thunder and Power Pack complete sets taking up valuable space.

I also collect music, I have several thousand CDs, albums and tapes, most the result of having worked in a music store from 1989 through 1994 and getting tons of freebies (not to mention the 30% discount).  I mostly concentrate on lates 70's-90's punk, alternative, mod, indie stuff, I actually have a few expensive oop CDs ($100+) that have gone out of print, it's shocking what has already been discontinued in the realm of CD music, a lot like RPGs I guess, except you can't buy an old PDF of some of the bands I collect.

The other big collectible is pulp fiction, specifically paperbacks from the 40s through 60s, mostly hard boiled detective, adventure, horror (not a big SF collector for some reason). I have quite a few original pulps such as Weird Tales and Dime Detective, but frankly they are expensive and if you haven't already guessed I already spend far too much money on my "hobbies". I've never done an inventory but suspect I have several hundred at least, most I've never even read (some would probably fall apart if I tried to I suspect, the problem with collecting something that was basically made to self destruct due to low printing quality). I keep telling the wife they are for when i retire, so I'll have plenty of reading material....

My brother has ofte commented that if I had just stuck with one collecting bug (either comics, RPGs or music) I would have been a giant in that field, instead of being a dabbler in three   Oh well, all three have made me very happy through the years, instead of concentrating on one I just wish I had more money to collect more of all three!

Like most my brother and I have collected several different things: comics, sports cards, movie posters/banners, action figures, music/movies, and movie props.

We started out collecting comic books back in the late 70s. Our collection isn't very impressive, only about 14 long boxes. The Marvel Conan series was our main focus(have the entire series). Other than that most are worthless with the exception of Iron Man #1 and a few X-men. Stopped collecting comics around 2000.

Sometime in the mid 80s we also started buying sports cards(mainly football & basketball). Don't know how many we have but it is in the thousands. We stopped collecting cards in 1998.

In 1990 I(Shawn) went to work for Movies 8. During this time we picked up many movie related items. Later a friend went to work for General Cinema and we picked up alot more. Our favorite item is a LOTR banner from the first movie. Don't really buy anymore.

When the Simpsons action figures hit the shelves we were hooked. We bought everything we could find until about 2 years ago. We also bought other figures that we really liked such as: Dawn of the Dead, Robotech, Dune, Futurama, etc..

Our music/movie collection consists of around 425 dvds, 500+ cds, and 400+ vinyl LPs. Most of the music is rock(Pink Floyd, Doors, Greatful Dead, CCR, etc..).

The movie props we have include several items(swords, crossbows, shields, etc.) from the D&D movie. Other items came from movies like: We Were Soldiers, Resident Evil, and Baseketball.

Oh, we also collected and still collect TSR/RPG art. Our collection has around 200-300 pieces including 11 cover paintings. Some of the artists include: Erol Otus, David Sutherland, Jeff Dee, Tim Truman, Elmore, Easley, Lakey, Geier, Baxa, Doorman, Burdick, Peter Jones, etc..

Just wish we never bought all the action figures and sports cards.  Willing to trade for D&D/RPGs.

Shawn, you guys wouldn't happen to have a Namath rookie card you'd like to trade away, would you?

Never got into comics myself - other than the AD&D ones (the old ones, not the new Kenzer series) ;)

I've got a small collection of weapons, some medieval and some practical/training items (I practiced martial arts for quite a while). I collected coins and bills for a while, although I've since sold most of the expensive stuff.

I tend to pick up weird little knick-knacks as well, although I don't know if I'd call it a "collection" per-se. Some stuff is stuff that I've rediscovered from back when I played with them as a kid (plastic dragons, rubber ninjas), others are just oddball items (fossils, an alien-in-a-rubber-ball thing, etc). I ran out of space on my desk unit for them long, long ago, so a lot of it just gets rotated as I find it, with the stuff I don't have space for going into a Rubbermaid container, heh.

I don't know if you collect exotic roadkill but if you are in the market for an Armadillo, just let me know.  They are splattered all over the roads in Texas.  I might be able to pick you up a 7 or 8 foot long rattlesnake as well.  Mmmm...good eatin'.  :D

PC games, mostly RPGs. The only Ultima I still need is Ultima 2. I'm not really active in this anymore, however. My basement is also kind of a museum of old computers and parts.

I have six long boxes full of comics, but I no longer collect, or even read comics in their traditional pamphlet form. I now limit myself to buying trade paperbacks and Marvel Masterworks hardbacks.

Books. A lot of sci-fi and fantasy, with some Tom Clancy, history, and theological books mixed in. I prefer hardbacks.

DVDs. I probably have 500 or more.

Guess I'm a nerd. Think I'll go get my slide rule and pocket protector...

I resemble that remark!  :D  Actually, I consider myself a geek instead of a nerd.  When I think of "nerds" I think of someone that is socially inept such as the guys in the movie "Revenge of the Nerds".  Most nerds can probably also be considered geeks, but not all geeks are nerds IMHO.

I also have a lot of computer games.  Three of my favorite purchases were The RPG Archives, The Ultima Collection, and The Wizardry Collection.  I liked Ultima (only ever played 3 and 4) but preferred The Bard's Tale.

Mostly books I guess, not rare ones (though I have a couple of signed Garth Nix ones and Terry Pratchett ones).

I went on a huge poetry kick a few years ago & have over 250 poetry books, which I consider to be pretty geeky, but I love them.

I also have a dozen or so silly backpacks (Animal from the Muppets, coffins, carebear shaped ones etc etc).

TP lives in my neck of the woods. We (Edinburgh) always roll him out for the book festival every year.

  I thought he lived in Yeovill (sp) in Somerset. My brother lived there for a while and always used to see him at the train station.

I dunno. I've lived in Edinburgh for the past five years, and he seems to be out signing books or doing public readings half a dozen times a year. I suppose he could be commuting?

We also have JK Rowling in Morningside (suburb). She's a lot more reclusive though.

Yup, normally I am not a big fan of shrinkwrap - but sometimes it comes in quite handy.
