I was wondering if anybody has Angus McBride's Characters of Middle Earth Book by Iron Crown Enterprises. Why I ask, is I am hoping that someone will be kind enough to check their copy of the book to find out if their is an image of Eowyn and Merry confronting the Witch-king. Specifically, the image shows Eowyn's back to the viewer with her shield and sword drawn. The Witch-king raising his mace and is about to strike at Eowyn. Merry is in the background raising his sword to strike at the Nazgul. The sky is a yellow-orange.

I have the opportunity to purchase this piece of Angus McBride artwork and I am trying to figure out where/if the piece was published or not.  I think the piece may have been used in the Characters of Middle Earth.  I would attach a picture of the image if I could but I haven't figured out how to do that yet.

Any help would be appreciated. Anyone else enjoy Angus McBrides Middle Earth artwork?

Turn that picture around 180 degrees and you have it. Merry is in the foreground, and Eowyn is in the background, with her sword drawn. Merry is not raising his sword, he looks to be scrambling for his little hobbit life.

Darn.  I thought I had it.

Okay, I think I have a link to a website with a copy of the image.  I assume that it must have been produced for a MERP product by ICE.  It is by Angus McBride who did most of his Middle Earth images for ICE.  To the best of my knowledge it was not done for the Middle Earth CCG as I quickly flipped through the cards from the game and didn't see it.

Here is the link: Welcome to Flickr - Photo Sharing

Let me know if there is a problem getting to the site.

Anybody seen anything that resembles this.  Any help would be appreciated.

Gotta say...I have never seen this print.  It looks like it may be Angus's.  Can you confirm?

May Eru's light shine upon you always.

Here is a link to the Angus Eowyn/Witch-King image I am familiar with. It looks like a definite variation on it but not sure if they look enough alike.

The piece is signed  by Angus McBride in the lower left corner in the grass and is from an Angus McBride collector.  It is also a variation of the piece that you show.  The witchking is portrayed similarly except off his mount.  So I am fairly confident it is a McBride piece.   I am beginning to wonder if it is either a private commission or perhaps a piece commissioned by ICE but never used.

I am hoping if it has been used/published before, and someone may remember seeing it.

I appreciate everyone's help in this.

Marlith's link is the one in Characters of Middle Earth.

Lid, yours is definitely a McBride. Look at the outfit on Eowyn in both pictures. Color is slightly different, but it is identical, even down to the band of embroidery around the base of her skirt, and the lace boots. Her posture is slightly different, but essentially the same. The crown on the lich is the same in both pictures as well. AND, in both pics, the lich-king is invisible.

The lich does look a bit fat in your picture, Lid. Probably not getting enough exercise.

I noticed that too.  Probaby from riding around all day instead of jogging to the battle.

As you say, it is like the continuation of the scene.  With the image that Marlith pointed out as the beginning and the image I posted occuring slightly later.

Again, not sure where/if the later image is published or not.  But thanks for all the detective work so far!

I have almost all the MERP RPG stuff (boasts :D :D :D ) and haven't seen this before - it does look like his work, but possibly a private commission (perhaps for a larger gentleman, with delusions of Nazgul-hood ??) or as you say for an aborted ICE project. Although, again, hard to know which one? I understand that they were working on Campaign settings to the East of the Sea of Rhun and a re-do of Umbar (amongst other things) when they lost the licence. Hmmm, maybe it was considered for the Minas Tirith book and rejected?  Here is a slightly wider version of the image kindly provided above.

Hmmm, on second thoughts, could it be for their collectible card game?

It is not from the collectible card game.  I have all the cards and ran through them all yesterday and it wasn't part of that collection.  After all the help I have gotten here, I am assuming either a private commission or more likely an unfinished product from ICE or a commissioned image that wasn't used.
