Leadlair used to post to some of the mini sites I visit. I haven't seen him for a long time.

I may have his e-mail address somewhere.

Ok, so recently I decided to start collecting Warhammer 40k again, and I discovered a bag full of unopened AD&D miniatures. I had no idea where they came from, and I am still unsure.

Anyways, I have 17 unopened 25mm packs from AD&D 1st edition and 2nd edition and some Ravenloft miniatures. They are all from Ral Partha. So far I have only been able to find 3 of my miniatures online being sold. I will list the names of all of the packs, if you know any prices please tell me, I would like to sell them at a good price and not get ripped off.

3 packs of "Lab Work Tables (2)" - Ravenloft
2 packs of "Assorted Life Energizers" - Ravenloft
1 pack of "Zombie Lord & Lackeys - Ravenloft, I did find this one on ebay, I think for like $40
1 pack of "Lord Harcourts Foot Archers (6)" - AD&D
1 pack of "Grey Blossom Unarmored Infantry" - AD&D
1 pack of something called Dragon Quest, it contains 6 miniatures, 2 knights, one with an axe and one with a sword, one dwarf, one rogue, one dual wielding guy, and one mage. The pack does not say anything about what it is, other than the TSR logo.
2 packs of "Iron Lords Dwarf Crossbowmen" - AD&D 2nd edition
1 pack of "Iron Lords Elite Dwarf Guard" - AD&D 2nd edition
1 pack of "Planescape Dretch" - AD&D 2nd edition
1 pack of "Young Dragon of Krynn" - AD&D 2nd edition, I did find this one on ebay for about $30
1 pack of "Fizban" - AD&D 2nd edition, I also found this one on ebay for $45 and $60

I also found a few miniatures out of their packages, one of the Assorted Life Energizers and another pack of the Dragon Quest guys, and a few dwarfs.
Also, please note that they are still in their original packages and that they are in mint condition, other than the packages which are pretty worn out since they are 20 years old. If anyone knows their values I would be very happy to know.

I figure many of them are worth little, but I at least have some hopes that I can at least make some money off a few.

I can't help you too much on your pricing but I will say that the market seems considerable down from where it was say a year ago.

A good example of this is Lord Gunthar.  I obtained and sold a number of Ral Partha 11-series miniatures last year.  Lord Gunthar sold quickly at $100.  Today, that same mini is a tough sell at $40.  There has been one on Ebay that has been relisted 2 or 3 times now at this price with no such luck on a sale.  A bunch of the other regularly high priced Dragonlance ones seem to sell noticeably cheaper.

Whether or not this applies to your minis, I can't say - just an observation.

A good example:

Free shipping and an atlas.  8O  Yeah it's loose and painted... but still.

The winner put in a bunch of bids at the end, must be some type of anti-snipe strategy or he was expecting it to skyrocket.

There are several very active Ral Partha resellers who seem to snap up as many 11-series minis as they can get their hands on, and then relist them at what I consider outrageous prices. Maybe if they sell a few here and there at their high prices it works well for their bottom line in the end?

But yeah, the market is down at the moment, and plenty of good bargains can be had. If you are looking to sell right away, don't expect a huge return. You should do OK, though, so don't be too discouraged.

The main thing I was wondering is if they were simply worth like $5 or if they are more like 10-20.

I guess I might hold on to them for a while, they are in the packets still sealed so they should be fine, and I am not sure but I would think that having them in their original packets would help.

For finding a bag of minis that I had no idea about makes me pretty happy, even if they are only $10 average, that would still be $170.

Anyways, if any of you guys see any of the minis I have up for sale please let me know what the price is around, I don't want to put them up for sale and have them sell at $5 if they are worth more.

they're only worth what someone is willing to pay for them, there is no fixed price. these are estimates from past auctions and should be taken as such, mere guidelines as to what could but not necessarily will be had.

$256 for Molydeus, a Greater Gelugon, and 14 other demons/devils. I was wondering how high this one would go. Might have even gone higher if the seller had mentioned Molydeus in the title or description.

Anyone know what manufacturer the Geryon is from?

I am not sure about your find, but the advice you are getting so far is good.  The two that catch my eye which haven't received comment yet are the the Dretch and Grey Blossum packs.  Demon packs always sell way better than average and should get you $10.00 easily, maybe double or triple that.  I've never actually sold any Grey Blossum packs, but I've had a couple of buyers years back hound me for the things.  I suspect you can get $10.00 to $20.00 for that as well.

As to whether the market is down or not on minis, I personally haven't taken that bad a hit.  I don't sell expensive stuff much anymore except have a very few 15mm and 6mm minis which often sell between $10 and $20 a blister (actually some up for sale right now).  I suspect some of that is that I have been selling minis for years and have a loyal fan base.

The market is what the market is.  If I were you, I'd wait until mid- January to mid-February to sell.  I always get my best prices on sales of any kind then.  Key words I include in my auctions which seem to help the most (when applicable) are: D&D, 25MM, Ral Partha, series 11, and lot.  I'd sell the blisters individually starting/ending on a weekend.  I'd sell half of them one week and half the next week stating that people can combine shipping on both week's wins.  Don't sell to Italy but Spain, France, Japan and UK are usually fine.

Congratulations on your find.  8)

Thanks for your reply.

I will take your advice and wait a while to sell them, they shall fuel the next upgrade of my 40k army.

Do you know anything about the Zombie Lord, Fizban, or the Dragon? I saw them on ebay for a lot of money, $30-60, but I am not sure if that was simply overpricing.

Fizban used to go for $50.00 each, but he appears to have gone down to the $30.00 range for now.  The Dragon should also get about $30.00.  However, as with anything, they could go twice as high or go for half that. I don't know the Zombie Lord prices.

Frankly, it's a rare day you get top price on everything you sell.  My philosophy is that it's better to have money in the bank than an item that might sell for more and you have to worry about it getting destroyed by fire or taken by thieves.  It ain't money until it's money.  8)
