It is now live on eBay, and the link is posted over in the Classifieds.

Thanks for the pointer!

Hey Richard:  if you decide to sell 10-517 Dr. Mordenheim's Laboratory, I'd be interested! :D

i hope somebody can help me out with the following issue: as far as i have gathered, many of the 11-xxx models by ral partha were modeled not only after characters from the ad&d line but also after specific paintings / drawings (one such instance being the baakesh va painting by elmore).

i have recently bought the skeletal giant (11-496) mib for cheap (5 €), but can't remember what the title of the painting is on which that mini is based -- parkinson, maybe, albeit i didn't find said painting in any of his galleries.

Image

a female ranger/warrior with a bow ready to fire an arrow encounters two skeletal giants in a snowy area, that is the scene if i recall correctly -- any help is appreciated, thanks in advance.

Hmm, that sounds familiar...perhaps a Dragon or Dungeon cover???

It's on the cover of Dragon No. 126

If I could figure out how to paste the cover pic out of my Dragon Mag Archive, I'd do so. But here is the blurb describing it:

"COVER
Daniel Horne said the scene on his cover painting takes place on a frozen tundra. The sun is setting, the hoar frost is glittering like thousands of pieces of broken glass.” A ranger in the service of the High King has just been attacked by the undead remains of one of her old opponents — a frost giant who has waited a long time for this moment of revenge. Having lost her sword and used up her normal arrows, the ranger has a single elven arrow left from which comes the painting’s name: "Saving the Best for Last."

superb, thanks a lot to both of you!

funny how despite the fact that these two are not exactly identical (now that i get to see it again), i immediately associated the mini with the image.

While the artist of that Dragon Cover doesn't list it for sale on his site:
http://web.mac.com/danielhorne/Site/Dan ... rints.html

If you contact him, you can buy a high-quality print of it for only $20. I picked up 2 of them last year, and they are beautiful!

As a rule-of-thumb, all of the 11 Series miniatures are worth purchasing.

In my boxes of stuff from storage I found a painted miniature that I think might be Ral Partha:

It is a figure of The Death Dealer (horned helmet, axe, on a black horse) by Frazetta.

Is it Ral Partha?  Is it considered cool in any way?  :?

Nice little find you came across, the Remorhaz alone can go for $50+.

Armored war dogs, Ketch, Mites, Bonesnapper and the two Planescapes won't get you much on the resale end, but all the others are worth picking up at discount.  8)

as to your first question, i have no idea -- but cool it definitely is.

mike, thanks for the info -- if it wasn't so far away, i'd go monday -- but there should be enough left to loot over the coming weeks.

It is Ral Partha and it is cool.  This can still be found quite easily and may still be in print.

These aren't exactly the best condition minis, but these prices are very different than a year ago when they seemed to average about $100.00 each.
