Does anyone here own a copy of this novel by Gary Gygax?

Shrike: The Coming Avenger

I'm trying to find out if it was ever released. Unconfirmed data indicates 1989-91 period.

Everyone claiming to have it (or information about it) is Out of Stock and nobody has a cover photo.

Any info appreciated.

Doesn't look like it was published, for whatever reason.  Being before the Internet, there was a lot less follow-up on such things (whereas today, there'd be several forums discussing the pending release and wondering what happened when it didn't appear).

It went as far as an ISBN issued.  I found this reference from May 1989:  Reading For Pleasure #1 - May 1989 , which shows it being released by New Infinities.

I'd have to check if I have a New Infinities novel called this.

Hi Frank---

I saw your classifieds post on the unpublished Shrike novel mss., and was curious if you could provide some more detail about the novel's plot/contents, and where it fits into the Gord saga?  The Gord novels were published as follows, from 1985-1988 (release dates as listed in the various NIPI Gord novels and Amazon):

Saga of Old City - TSR October 1985
Artifact of Evil - TSR February 1986
Sea of Death - NIPI July 1987
Night Arrant - NIPI September 1987
City of Hawks - NIPI November 1987
Come Endless Darkness - NIPI March 1988
Dance of Demons - NIPI 1988 (mentioned as a November 1988 release in Realms of Adventure #1's Summer 1988 issue*)

Since Shrike dates from 1988, it presumably follows from Come Endless Darkness.  What more can you tell us?---does it pick up after the destruction of Greyhawk, in the new world of Yarth, or is it set in between some of the other 1988 Gord novels?

*In the "Sanctum of the Savant" column, Gary mentioned that "DANCE of DEMONS just recently came out of my typewriter and is to be released in November.  I have vague plans for two new novels, each with its own unique protagonist. These heroes, and all of my fantasy gaming, plus Gord & Company, have moved to a new world."  I looked in the two NIPI newsletters and in the other NIPI novels I have, but didn't find any other references to the Shrike novel.

The legal situation here is cloudy enough that I can't reveal any details on the Content whatsoever. Such might arguably have a negative effect on future sales potential of the IP. otoh, publicity might actually help -- but that's not my call to make. :)

I will ask the seller (I'm just the Agent) if details can be revealed to you confidentially. He's out of town atm, will get back atcha next week.

forgive the memory lapse here but was this copy of the manuscript sold six months ago? Or was it put up for auction and it didn't sell?

A month ago (or so) I offered it to my email group.
No takers, so seller decided to go public with it.

That sounds good, thanks Frank!  If the seller will be attending NTX, I'd love to take a look at the mss. there, if possible (as would others, I imagine!).

Why did she kill the deal to publish Castle Zagyg? Why has all of Gygax's ip languished for all these years? Seriously, I'd like to know.

Did they call you or was it that you received some form of C&D/infringement letter?

The procedure implemented was to email both the Owner and Sales Agent by email, with followup FedEx (overnight) of the same Notice.
