There's a 5e reprint coming, so these are likely to come down more in price, I bet.

These bullette/rust-monster sets are not hard to find, but this one looks unusually complete (though with a few others from various sources included). Does anyone have a list of what was in the original set?

That actually looks like it'd be fun Aia. Maybe they have kangaroo steeds, or an adventure where dingoes raid a village and eat all the babies.

Genuinely hard to say.

I have literally never seen a first print T&T and I have seen plenty of woodgrains, so in terms of rarity it is *very* interesting. Plus the core rules set of a game is often an attractive item for collectors, even if some subsequent supplements or adventures are harder to find (there are exceptions to this where completists will fight it out for an obscure low print run supplement etc.. e.g. rare Pagan Publishing material for Call of Cthulhu, or the D&D ST1 mod).

However, rarity alone is not solely what determines value. So, we can say that generally speaking rare D&D gets higher prices that similarly rare non-D&D games because of its massive cultural presence (the first rpg, the best-selling, most well-known etc..). Even though I am fond of, and (somewhat sporadically) collect, T&T this is getting close to what I would bid I think. But then, some people have deeper pockets than mine (who am I kidding, many people have deeper pockets!!     )

Going by the numbers, it is one of the rarest non-unique items in existence, maybe THE rarest. There are far more 1st print woodies than 1st printing T&T's. That said, I'd grill the shit out of the seller about it, especially where it came from. It's probably genuine, but that's a lot of money to gamble.

Thanks for the thoughts, folks.

I just got back into T&T and then collecting T&T a few years ago but I have read stories of two of these go up for sale in the last 7 years.

One was Ken St Andre's personal book put up through the Deluxe T&T Kickstarter and self-reported by someone on this site it went for $2,000. I don't believe that was a true auction style purchase but its an important comparison point. I would value KSA's personal book way more than random book, but that has to be balanced against the fact I don't believe it was a true auction.

The other one I have read about was another person here that put up his copy with a $1,250 (I believe) Buy it Now which was gobbled up really quickly. Again it never went through a full auction but sets a comparison floor and context that most likely $1,250 was materially lower than it could have sold.

On the other hand, its T&T (not D&D). Its more of a personal, niche valuable than broader market draw. End of day, it only takes two people really caring about that personal/niche item. I'm definitely one but having a hard time justifying how high this may go. I'm fine with letting this go to someone that wants it more than me but I also don't want to be naive about real market value of this. I figured $3k would do it but apparently not.

Thanks in advance for any other insights any of you may have.

If that's a fake, I salute the fraudster for the staple rust.
