Is this an exception or is as&sh 1E real value?!? ...i have never tracked it down and cant find other recent sales which can confirm it...

I'm seeing one sold about 2 years ago for $111, and one sold 14 months ago for $125.

Both were listed and sold as auctions, with all three looking to be in similar condition. I'd say that's a fairly natural progression in value.

If that progression is typical for collectibles, then prices rose about 17% in 2020, & 22% in 2021. Will they rise by another 27% by the end of 2022, so that we might expect this item to be worth $193? I'm starting to miss the early days of the pandemic, when all we worried about was running out of toilet paper.

It's hard to say where the price will begin to taper off.  This is the original edition, so it will probably become more difficult to get, and if there's enough interest, the price will continue to rise.  I could see it getting up into the $200-300 range, perhaps even higher eventually.

It's also a really nice product!

Agreed, and this is one where quality also tells:  Jeff's ASSH games and modules have been top-notch from a game design as well as presentation/quality-of-product POV from the beginning.

No, I was only referring to 3 data points given over a two year time period - the price went up at a somewhat reasonable rate. As far as that predicting the future, I think the SEC rule that investment companies are required to tell customers applies here “Past performance is not indicative of future results”. Toys and games aren't much different.

A version actually produced by Steve Jackson Games? Yes, that would be very, very, very uncommon.

All three packages are pretty rare and desirable but Sro is exceptional for two reasons.

He's a Named Dragon,

and this---

Old Guard - Legions of the Petal Throne.jpg

Gets missed because of him being EPT instead of D&D, but that doesn't change him being TSR's 1st official lead dragon.

Minifigs didn't do a big dragon for the official WoG line the next year. Heritage's official line dragons were three years later and Grenadier's was over four years later. Old Guard/Murray is like the minis version of Wee Warriors, all of them are pretty pricey in package.

Hmmm.  I could not find anything doing a search.  Looks like a local gaming newsletter.

Cheers!

It was sort of a national club one could join. In one issue is a list of gamers with info on what games they played. There were supposed to be discounts from certain publishers if one was a member. I believe there was also some slight connection with Gamelords. I remember them being located out of Maryland. It ran for four issues as BART and then changed the name of the newsletter to SAGA for the fifth and final newsletter.

Great Bill, thanks a lot! (Apparently this is not one of the 35...)
