I am trying to check if my MERP collection is complete. Does anyone have a list of which MERP items had pull out maps?

Thanks in advance

If you locate one please share it with me. MERP maps are one of my absolute favorite items related to gaming and such a resource would be awesome (even though I will go broke after seeing it ; ) )

Speaking of MERP maps, I found a still-in-the-box Middle-earth poster map set which I understand is pretty rare.  I have been trying to track this on ebay and with resellers and have never seen a sale. Anyone care to guess the  value?  Or blow me away with an offer?  Here is the description:

ICE #1500 Contains 2 full color maps: (1) ICE's original 24x36 map of Middle-earth, depicting the entire continent of Endor; and (2) a 22x34 map focusing exclusively on northwestern Middle Earth. This map of the Northwest is rendered in vivid detail for Tolkien fans who enjoy spotting landmarks passsed by the Fellowship of the Ring. Both maps are provided rolled, in poster format; heavy paper, no creased, no grids!

Mike---

IIRC there are two different versions of the MERP maps, and one is definitely rarer than the other. I don't recall the distinguishing product #s or sizes, but my sense us that the rarer maps were bigger than the ones in your box.

Hopefully someone else can chime in with specifics.

i have the following:
2008 Miidle-earth Poster Maps
2100 Poster/Map of Middle-earth
2100-A Poster/Map of Middle-earth
4001 Northwestern Middle-earth Map Set
but i am not familiar with a map set with stock #1500. That stock code was for some versions of Claw Law and Rolemaster Companion. Is this item sealed Mike? How did you come up with that stock code number if I may ask?
Thanks

I think all the 1st edition Campaign Books had pull out maps (with the exception of Moria - although the 2nd edition has a  map), and none of the smaller adventure modules do. On second edition most of the main setting books have maps (but not Hands of the Healer). That is off the top of my head - I might be misremembering some of the detail. Others can help??

Mike - I reckon that the map set you have is also listed as #2008 on the main online MERP lists. You will see that both number 1500 and 2008 are printed on the label, the one with hash is the one that matches to the lists.

If it is still in the toblerone shaped box, and that is in nice condition, I would guess the price at $20-30 (ish)... maybe a little more. It does not come up all the time, i.e. is pretty uncommon.

So which stock # is for the rarer (larger?) sets??

Also: is the 2e Moria map good (worth buying the book for)?

Did it break down or is Hermit doing something with it?

It's been down for months. According to HfP's last message on it, he's hoping to do something once he 'gets back' from wherever he is.

In the meantime, maybe this page will help figure things out:

BTW if you want to complete your MERP collection, now is the time.  I was shocked when I just checked and saw how cheaply the stuff was going.  You shouldn't have to pay more than $10-15 for the more common items, and under $50 each for even the rarest 1st edition MERP. I remember when some pieces (Umbar, Ardor, etc) were going for $100+ in bad condition.

Just had a look at merp items "sold" for ebay (378 items sold recently available to US) -- below...

** eBay auction listing blocked.  Please enable cookies in your browser for this site and for eBay! **

I think - as always - the nice quality stuff is still pretty costly, but if you are not too fussed about condition and prepared to wait you can get some good deals. Not sure I would quite so optimistic about getting great stuff for a bargain.  :D

For example, I was surprised to see Empire of the Witch King going for about $40....when I know I used to sell them $100 a pop back in the day if you were lucky enought to find one with the map inside. As always, the 2nd edition MERP stuff goes for premium, but the older stuff (pre-1990) seems to be getting cheaper. As Red Bus says if you aren't too particular about condition you can buy a nice chunk of stuff affordably.

I sold my MERP collection for a fortune several years ago. If they are going cheap now, I may buy back in again. I still have two of the maps in the triangle-shaped boxes, are those the maps you are talking about?

My recollection is that those are the maps that were bigger, Frank.  Can you post your dimensions, please, and Mike too?
