Probably still have three or four copies with the maps kicking around but was rather careless to which of the many were given away as freebies (more likely the better copies, bar one) since that's been one of those I picked out of habit if going cheaply, both back in the day and somewhat more recently, as it's well worth a look IMO.

It's one of those 'little books' I always liked, and want back.  I agree with you: it's well worth a read and a nice addition to one's collection.

Your mention of multiple copies is making me smile and cringe...if you ever stumble across another with a map please let me know (I hope you heard the extra whine on my 'please'). :)

Freebies!  Going cheaply!  Well, it looks like we all need to get your address and camp out. ;)

Best,

Paul

Wasn't sure what it was really going to be but it seems like it is a superhero RPG.  The book is also a lot bigger than expected coming in at 154 pages.  It seems like it is A4 size as well.

Nice. The one that we wondered if it is a RPG game or Tabletop. So it is a RPG?

Yes it is very much an RPG.  The note on the first page from the author is all about his playing other RPGs and wanting to create his own set of rules.

So the olive Ringbearer does exist.  Any textual differences between it and the tan version?

I should have bid accordingly    Nice pick up!

And what does Generic worth? Any artwork? Looks homebrew or more professionnal?

Generic is a small press item.  There is an address for mail ordering copies at $5 each.  It has been printed so its a bit more than a homebrew.

I decided to do a search for the author and came up with this:

Hans Reiser: Once a Linux Visionary, Now Accused of Murder

I'm guessing that means extra copies might be hard to find.

Oh, God.  Hans Reiser wrote an RPG?  He's the author of some filesystem that kind of fizzled out when he was convicted.

In issue #4 there is an interview with Gary at the Students Union Building at Reading University.  The article is about Gary's thoughts on the development of D&D and AD&D, thoughts on fanzines, future of TSR, and some personal thoughts.

In #5 its a letter from Gary about the editing of the article published and the enthusiasm of UK fanzines.  It also includes reaction from others to Gary's interview.

Textually they are both the same.  The only difference I can spot are on the last couple of pages: Olive coloured book has a picture of a face on p39 and The Little Soldier name/logo/address on p40 (both missing in the tan version).

Cool, and thanks for the summaries, Mark!
