Just got this in the mail today. If you have ever wanted to know what the total destruction radius of a 20 megaton nuclear warhead is or the effective range of a Smith & Wesson .357 Magnum then this is the book for you. :twisted: They shoulda fired their editor though. These guys cant spell for crap. It's spelled Lubbock, Texas....not Libbock, Texas. :D

Loved playing Morrow Project way back when. You end up being the walking wounded though. The combat system as I remember left for all kinds missing limbs and the like. I also remember buying an atlas and getting my compass out and marking up all the blast areas and then trying to estimate the fallout patterns. Kinda made for a dark late teen years I guess :lol:

I suspect that all of our late teen years may have been strongly influenced by the shadow of nukes. The fantasy world, with all of its darkness, still often seemed like a brighter future than our own.

Try explaining the Cold War to a high school sophomore of 2005. They don't even think it really happened. Certainly, they would never be so foolish. "What...nukes? Oh, we always knew that was all just paranoia." :?

Not really a fun find because I did not buy it but I think something like this would be cool to own. Hard to justify though.

Hey!

Check out THIS item I just got from Ebay:

It is The Compleat Tavern by Gamelords, for just under $10.

The description says that there is an "inscription in ink" inside, as if this were a flaw in the item.

What the description did NOT say was that the item is signed by co-author Kerry Lloyd. It says: "To Duane - may the girls never say no, and the drink never conquer. Kerry Lloyd."

So, I got a signed copy that is minty mint mint of all mintyness.

Yah, I am a bit jazzed!

was quite pleased with this win anyway:

the sauron box set was complete, so was pleased with that and at that price, was more than happy, but you will notice in the auction that it mentions a few other things:

"holy war" "chitin" and "wizard" - well these are three of them microgames, complete with maps. 'lo and behold, in the box, mixed in with all the sauron stuff, was the counters for them and they are all complete!

not only that, there was a complete wargame in there too, maps and counters - one of them north african WWII ones. i know its to do with Tobruk, but cant remember the actual name. ok its unboxed, but an absolute bonus considering i wasnt expecting it!

so 5 complete games when i was only expecting 1!!! very happy

Are we nearly there yet?

For those of you who are interested, there appears to be at least two printings of The Compleat Tavern:

Even though both bear the copyright of 1981, I'm guessing that the one on the right is older--the map section is printed on a nice yellow paper, while the map section for the one on the left is printed on white.

Both myself and Badmike picked up copies of the pink/purple one last spring from the same seller. Unless it is an extremely well done fake, which I seriously doubt, it is legit.

I've never seen it. You might want to compare the two. If they came from different sellers, then it would lend more credence to 2 printings.

Good reading copy (torn cover) of the revised CSOIO plus 2 boxes of rewrite. Not bad at $7.50 and postage wasn't too expensive either.

If it is a new and better photocopy, the paper should give it away.

With a bit of digging, I've uncovered a couple of fake fanzines that a US seller is shifting through eBay. The make up and feel of this purple digest has the same 'feel' about it as the fanzines I bought. They have been redone with DTP software. I wonder if they are from a similar source?

There can't really be that much money in making fakes. Why bother? You'd have to flood the market with really convincing fakes to make it worth your while.

This week I've been mostly eating . . . The white ones with the little red flecks in them.
