My daughter would love one of those. :D

This week I've been mostly eating . . . The white ones with the little red flecks in them.

Iron Kingdoms 5e

Might not be for most on here, but I've enjoyed what was put out in the past for this setting.

If you ask a question with an obvious answer, then it also counts as trolling.

Well, I'm sorry you feel that way. It appears as though of the three Kickstarters I was aware of last year have either shipped or are nearing shipping, which is great news, but if you or another backer have more recent news, please share. Also if you are aware of other Kickstarters then post them.

A friend of mine is in the middle of doing a ZineQuest Kickstarter for his zine, Other Magic #3: The Ancient World:

kickstarter.com/projects/woodcutgames/o ... ient-world

It is a system neutral sourcebook designed to help GMs incorporate the real world magic beliefs and practices of the ancient Mediterranean, Near East, and Middle East into their games.

The "Rollers of R'lyeh" YouTube channel and podcast has just posted an interview with him:

Is this the 3rd issue? What about the first two? Where can you buy a copy?

The first one, Other Magic, is a 50 page black & white 'zine covering folk magic, and a half dozen variations on the theme. I paid $5 for it on DrivethruRPG where you can also get hardcopy. IMO it definitely isn't worth spending $5 when you look at all the things you can buy for $5, but if Folk Magic is something you need for a campaign and can't figure out for yourself with all the other resources available, then I can see why it might sell.

Based on the issue I have, I suspect the Kickstarter is the only real payout the author gets. The one I have is digest sized large font interspersed with black and white cave painting style illustration with no attributed artist, nothing most of us couldn't do ourselves. The last four pages are a list of films, books and movies the author used ideas from, so you get 46pp of text (approx. 11,000 words.)

Zine #2 was meant to be a little digest size monster pamphlet with 16 monsters in it, but I can't find any evidence it was published.

You're right - I should contribute something useful to this thread. Here is a form letter to send to anyone asking why one's kickstarter is late:

"No one owes you or your [gaming group] anything; nor is it the [kickstarter publisher's] responsibility to support you during trying times like this! Sink or swim, it’s your choice! The [kickstarter publisher] , along with [gaming supply] providers or any other service owes you NOTHING! I’m sick and tired of people looking for a damn hand out! If you don’t have [a module appropriate for your campaign] you step up and come up with a game plan to keep your [gaming group] [entertained]. If you have no [adventure scenarios] you deal with out and think outside of the box to survive and supply [entertainment] to your [gaming group]. If you were sitting at home in [boredom] because you have no [adventure scenarios] and are sitting there waiting for someone to come rescue you because your lazy is direct result of your raising! Only the strong will survive and the week will [fail to level up]. Folks, [Hasbro] Has given us the tools to support ourselves in times like this. This is sadly a product of a socialist [dungeon master] where they feed people to believe that the FEW [earn experience points] and others will become dependent for [healing spells]. Am I sorry that you have been dealing without [a module appropriate for your campaign] and [adventure scenarios]; yes! But I’ll be damned if I’m going to provide for anyone that is capable of [stocking a dungeon] themselves! We have lost sight of those in need and those that take advantage of the [D20 OGL] system and mesh them into one group!! Bottom line, quit crying and looking for [healing spells]! Get off your ass and take care of your own [gaming group]!

Bottom line - DON’T BE A PART OF A [total party kill], BE A PART OF THE SOLUTION!"

It is a point, that instead of buying from kickstarters, you create your own scenario and run that.

However, if someone is paid $20k to produce something and then doesn’t, that’s theft, however you look at it.

PGS seems to be delivering the kickstarters now. I can’t comment on the quality, as I’ve not seen one, but IF they are as good as Bills originally, then they’re doing a good job.

Bill just shafted a lot of people with his kickstarters and quite frankly, repeated insincere apologies don’t cut it.
He let a lot of people down and he shouldn’t be supported.

I’m guessing Ben is not going to let PGS slip any further into the pit, because he’s hung his reputation on it, and his face and reputation are known due to previous social media reputation. So if it is the case that Ben is working at PSG then he knows what damage can be done to his career, and he’s pulling out all the stops to make sure they deliver.

In regard to quality, no I idea. There was a horrific batch in the middle there for a while, and from what I’ve seen of the 5e stuff there is a lot better quality out there at the same price point, but at least the products are beginning to look more professional, but it must be a meagre existence at that position in the market.

What they need IMO is something cohesive and identifiably there’s. A talented writer could bring them that, but that means investment and belief from within, not another Kickstarter. I don’t think they understand, but if they are happy they are happy. The lightbulb might go one one day with Ben if he keeps talking to, and watching, those he knows who do get it.

I won’t be backing a KS, I really do these days unless it’s something special. But I will buy the right products if they bring any to market.

.

I think what Sauromatian was getting at was there is absolutely no legal obligation for a company to provide you with anything what so ever for baking a Kickstarter. I believe KS make that very clear. So anything you do get is a bonus. When you send a gift to someone on KS, you should write the money off and consider it a gift, because that is what it is. The video, or KS page, is just their begging page, the same way people beg for money for legal fees, or hospital bills, or to help out their favourite tramp. The recipient has no obligation whatsoever, and you only believe you have a right for the, to justify themselves, when in fact they do not. At least that’s my take on the whole KS thing.

I think kids stopped designing their own dungeons when Google made finding practically everything ever published for  free on the internet.

Those words were not mine, but it is an interesting extrapolation nevertheless. Buyer beware, I suppose.
