In case it's already been posted, apologies, but I'm liking the potential in FGGs purchase of Necro games and re-publishing etc.

Tomb of Abysthor is a winner as a S&W item in my eyes?

FGG buying NG? Would that just be a paper exercise to transfer IP?

This week I've been mostly eating . . . chicken and wild rice soup.

But the announcement does state "the purchase of NG considerably increases FFG's influence in the gaming world," so it is probably something more than just a paper exercise.  But if Bill is able to rerelease the newly acquire IP in updated form, who cares about the details?  This is good news.

In the email I received, there's a link to a survey which asks what I would like to see produced, so I'd say that there will be goodies coming

It pretty much opens the floodgates on all IP use. We will redo a few items w/ upgrade and expand type books--but really its use of IP on new material that will be the focus. Tome 4 anyone?

Will these books republished be sold outright or available only through the Kickstarter projects?

Emailing Bill during a Kickstarter can handle issues like not being able to pay through Amazon or other such problems.

The basic "gamer" version of the product will usually be sold afterwards, but only until supplies run out, without the extras, and potentially at a higher MSRP. It's not the way to go, if it can be avoided.

The collectible items, almost by definition, won't be available afterwards -- if they failed to sell, they weren't all that collectible in the first place. And while we are primarily a gamer-publisher, we pay very close attention to making sure that our collector items are protected, unique, cool, and carry major bragging rights.

The fact of the matter is simply that Kickstarter's model generally allows us to offer more value during that specific time window, because it minimizes risk of unsold inventory. What we offer after Kickstarter is a very conservatively planned amount of the basic gamer-inventory from the production run.

Hope that helps.
