Hey all, I recently won the auction from amandadub of the lot of arduin cards and now i am trying to identify the origin of each card... my first impression is that many different product have been shuffled all together...

Ok, a part of them are coming from the arduin dungeons (1-4): i checked them with the contents of these products and there's a 10% match (despite the fact that the quality of the paper is idfferent which leads me to think to a possible different printing... i hope they're not fake!)

now, the big isssue is about everything which is not coming from the arduin dungeons: afaik there have been different products issued by different publishers (Grimoire Games and International Gamers Association at least...). I checked Heroic Worlds and apparently these might be the products of the cards i have:

Arduin Artifact Cards by Grimoire Games (contents: 4 sheets, cover), 1980
Arduin Monster Cards by Grimoire Games (contents: 4 sheets, cover), 1980
Arduin Treasure Pak by Grimoire Games (contents: 12 sheets), 1980
Arduin Weapons Cards by Grimoire Games (contents: 4 sheets, cover), 1980
Magik Artifacts from Arduin by International Gamers Association (contents: 4 sheets), 1977
Magik Weapons from Arduin by International Gamers Association (contents: 4 sheets), 1977
Monsters from Arduin by International Gamers Association (contents: 4 sheets), 1977

Is there anybody who might help me in this task of tracking down the original product where these are from?

I own some monster cards by Grimoire games and they dont match with any of the cards i won, hence my first approach would be a check with the international gamers association products... (and the check is not related to the side "A", the images but with the side "B", the descirptions).

Any help/support is more than welcome!

PS: as soon as i have identified the cards,i will try to list them in the "complete your incomplete products"!

I know you said you checked against the Dungeons, but in hopes of helping anyway, here is my thread on that matter....

viewtopic.php?f=10&t=7891&hilit=arduin

I'd have to hunt down where I keep the other card sets.

howdy and thanks for the link: dungeons 1, 3, 4 are matching with mines... if youre interested i can send you a spare set of dungeon 2 cards (unfortunately they are cut, but it'd be helpful in any case...).

In case send me your email via PM! ;)

an update of the reaserach: the arduin dungeons cards match at 100% with the pics kindly provided by Copycat.

Now i have 24x3 cards to identify: 24 magik artifacts, 24 magik weapons, 24 monsters.

Hopefully i do have a copy of the monsters cards by Grimoire games and i checked some of the monsters cards to identify against them. The result is the following one (i uploaded only 1 example, every pic has both cards set aside each other, in the upper part there is the card to be identified and in the lower the card by grimoire games):

The result is that the text is the same, but the artwork is different.

I'd be lead to think the card to be identified belongs to the set by international gamers association (and the artwork should be by Otus...).

Is anybody who can help me futher than a simple assumption?

thanks and ciaooo

bump!

I had the luck to find this auction:

** expired/removed eBay auction **

and the monsters set i have matches exactly with the one here! (of course i have also the 24th missing card...)

so, the info i got from Shick's "Heroic Worlds" should be amended: this product is not by International Gamers Association (where, i assumed, Erol Otus worke), but it is a Multiversal Trading Company and the author of the artowrks is Hargrave himself (!!!)... from the contents of the "cover sheet" there is a clear mention of the weapons and artifact cards as well (and this confirms that they have been issued by the same publisher)...

Great piece of info, i will update my colleciton db!

ciaooo
