Well I paid a lot closer to $20 than $75 for my VotP, so there's one at the lower end.

I've bought two incomplete copies for ~$20 or so each IIRC, in the hope that I could assemble a complete one.  Once I find the first, I'll be able to see whether I have a complete set or not

This one is for Realm of Shadows.

Wow.  That's the most I've seen these sell for, by a significant amount.

Nope.  Previous pair went very high:

Re: Interesting Non-TSR Items Currently on eBay

And my comments at the time are pretty close to what I ending up paying for the current pair (yes, I bought them, so my opinion on the handouts in general has changed):

well let's see, i think this is how i put it last time: a case of two old skul acaeumites trying really hard to knock an item off their want list (with another usual suspect waiting in the wings).

speaking just for myself (which is almost always the way to go, advice i wish i had followed more during my life) as of this morning i had (these numbers are all singles, no doubles)
6327 FRP Items
2382 FRP Magazines
77 Tournament Adventures
107 Personal Manuscripts
206 TSR Internal Memos/Letters
90 Personal Letters to Hobby VIG's
87 Convention Programs/Misc.
74 Fantasy Gaming Misc. (from Tom Wham's personal Bolotomus to the TSR archives copy of Twenty Years of TSR)
or 9350 different items. There are 270 things I am looking for (that I know of) to then have one of every FRP item made through 2003. Heroic Worlds, published in 1990 by Prometheus Press was/is the definitive published source for role-playing items and became a checklist for myself (and others). So when an item comes up that "we" have not seen a copy of, in 24 years of looking, the price jumps. Much too high? Perhaps. But I'm happy that my want list is now down to 269.

for the dedicated numerologists among us: of the 6327 FRP Items:
71.2% are "normal-size" 8.5"x11" or larger
15.5% are digest-sized
7.2% are boxed
6.0% are hardcover books
0.2% are tubed

Extremely rare. Only the second copy I have seen in 15 years...
(the other copy was sold by theshield2000/Christophe, a french guy. IIRC, Mars won it for half that price. I remember since I was second bidder :( )

Did I?  I will have to go check - I sure didn't think I had it but maybe I do (if Bill or Brett didn't have it, then it seems logical that I might).

Minimum shipping $71.75 to the UK? Please never say UK international postage is expensive again... :)

I know I've said this before but I'm going to ask again...why so high on this? I won one of these in the $20 range. Great shape

is there something about this one that is special?

If you look at the bidding you see that two bidders both wanted it and, I presume, got quite excited bidding against each other. Plus the box looks nice and there is an extra booklet (the thieves world "traitor" one).

The first print is also a bit harder to find than the later prints, especially in nice condition.  Although I have no idea if the bidders even knew it was a first print . . . .

Also, it's actually a good product.  Not that that necessarily has anything to do with price.
